Righto, this question is mainly aimed at racers or dedicated track bikes.

I can't see any advantage in having pad springs in the front calipers, and the disadvantage that they just create friction on the pads and less feel when being used.

The rc30 kit manual recommends removing them from standard calipers, I thought I might do this as I've been having a few caliper dramas lately (which are resolved now).

Does anyone run with them removed??

I dont use the spring things on my zxr calipers, just lockwire the pins instead of using the OE "R" clip

brake feel is improved, fade reduced and pad/caliper removal/fitting is easier

I don't use them either, it seems to allow the pads to sit more freely in the retracted position. Likewise I have removed the dustcovers too, to allow more cooling air to travel past the pads.

Cam, that's exactly what I've done and where I got the idea from. Took the dust covers off also to cool pads and let the dust blow out rather than collect in the calipers as I've also removed the dust seals.

Here's a question, do RC30 calipers fit NC30 forks? If so I think that means we can stick RS250 calipers straight on as they are the same as the kit RC30 calipers if I'm right, mmmmmmmmmm.

my cbr600 ca;ipers just have piston ont pads (no metal backing thing) onto disk and an ally plate at th etop that goes were the pins hold it, is that what your on about?

Yes, I believe they do.

You can pick up rs250 calipers pretty easily off yaoo japan, but they're a bit pricey.

Yep it's this single alloy plate that sits on top of both pads spike.

hmm whats the advantage of taking these off? my pads dont release too well (you can hear them rubbing on the disk when moving th ebike about the garage) will taking these off help?

whats the disadvantage do this (ie why are they their in the first place)
