would love some information on how to drain the carbs

There is a flat head screw oin the side/bottom of each of the float bowls. Unscrew it a bit until fuel pours out...

thats the proper way to do it..........ive heard that switching the fuel tap off and running the bike till it runs out is another way of doing it......it was on the forum somewhere i think :D :D :D

i would think though that it would still leave some fuel at the bottom of the float bowls by just running the carbs dry.

i have heard its not great for the engine either

more than likely......ive never tried it but someone mentioned it on another post a while back.to be honest though doing it the one off wouldnt do the engine any harm as its the same as running out of fuel.....which ive had the misfortune of experiencing on the 400....and my 125 the other day.

lol, me also. had to stick the tap onto reserve around a long right hander the other week, as it started to do its little out of fuel grumble.

was a bit ominus to say the least .

can i do this without taking the carbs off?

you would have to check but i dont think you can get enough access for all4 float bowls. its an easy job getting them off and sticking back on. just time consuming

To get to the drain scres you'll need to take the carbs off.

Switching the fuel tap off while the bike is running will do no harm, and will drain them pretty well.
