Hot, hot, hot!

My wife's NC30's fan doesn't appear to be working and I fear the manual switch fitted by the previous owner causes it to blow the fuse when turned on (this is been poorly done and seems to be the route of the problem), has anyone done this mod? is as simple as tracing the wires back to where they've been wired into the loom and disconnecting and removing? As I trust the bike know when to turn the fan on and I'm aware that they're hot little beasties in traffic.

Thanks in advance.

Matt

My brother in law has commented on the poor wiring on this bike, he said it had tampered with somewhat so I'm hoping that removing this switch will tidy things up a little, but don't want to open up a new can of worms doing so!

You should be able to trace back and just remove the switch. Check the thermostat is working ok, and that the lower radiator isn't completly full of road dirt, as this isn't going to help cooling!
Check fluids are at the correct level too.
They do run warm but this shouldn't really cause any problems if everything is back to how it should be.

edit: Feel free to bring it round if you need another pair of hands.

Cheers Matt, If I get home early enough tonight i'll try and whip out the silly switch, the bike is a problem child at the mo after about 4000rpm it seems to develop a misfire (only under load), and I'm hoping it'll have something to do with the blown fan fuse...

Other than that I'm clueless Haynes manual at the ready! I'm no mechanic but I'll give most things ago.

Get ready for the PM asking for your address LOL. (I'm sure i'll be fine...)

Matt
