I got a little concerned today after riding for about an 1 -1/2 hrs my indicators started to fail. Is this the start of reg/rec problems ahead or am I just getting paraniod? please dont tell me go get my multimeter out cause I aint got one( mechanical knowlage fine electrical somewhat lacking) and would rather change the parts myself than take it to a sparky just to check out problems.

i know how you feel mate,i dont realy know anything about bikes at all but im sure the reg/rec on my nc24 is goosed as its not charging the battery but i took it to a local bike mechanic who seems to think its fine after testing it with a meter.
no im kind of in limbo as to what to do about it.

lmao...were all in the same boat! i just posted a topic on here with a similar question..... i was under the impression that the battery cooked when the reg/rec whent and that it OVERcharged the battery as it no longer had the capacity to get rid of the excess volts that the battery couldnt handle, and the battery would boil etc..... but... im a newbie when it comes to nc24,s!

my indicators are very fiddely right pretty much always works but left is very tempremental, then found if u follow the cable from the switch to just under the fairing there is a connecter there just check that that is snug?? othere option try get hold of a new indicator relay think it is under the seat that sort of area. see if that solves ur prob? that should only be a couple of quid the one in my bike is from mitsubishi so its a generic part not really bike specific, only thing is it is a 3pin & most auto dealers only stock 4 pin, but just make sure what yours is.

It sounds like dodgy indicators / indicator wiring problem more than a reg/rec.

A cheap £8 multimeter will allow you to test for many electrical problems yourself and is a lot cheaper than just changing things.. (A new reg/rec, stator and battery is going to cost you around £120)
