subframe

any body had any success in straightening out a subframe ? on my bike its slightly askew from being down the road at some point as far as i can tell its been the right pillion peg mounts that have taken the impact, i got another subframe which has a different reg/rect mounting from my uk spec which i was considering getting modded but if original could be sorted in situ would save a lot of work, all the rear panels line up with the mounting points its just that there is an uneven gap where it meets the tank any ideas would be helpful . thanks :?:

The normal method is to solidly hold the bike, get a scaffold bar and twist...

This may require a few large mates... :D

You can use a spirit level on the tank to get the bike level then put one across the back of the subframe to see when it's straight before refitting bits.

if all else fails then there is usually subframes for sale on ebay at reasonable prices :D :D

cheers fastdruid, will have a go as you suggested its not out by much if that fails will get other subframe modded to take the reg/rec mount the same. wull how are you getting on sourcing parts for your rebuild ? theres a guy in ardrossan alkamoto who does fairing panels might be worth checking out he might have parts in your colour scheme. :)
