Good afternoon chaps and ladies , well it is a nice day so went out for a bit on the bike, and got snarled up in some bad traffic, which was at a standstill for hmm a solid 15-20 minutes , over this time i was watching my temp needle crawl up and up until it was literally on the very tip of the white bar right next to the red at this point i started to be a tad concerned , luckily the traffic started moving and i had space to get into the clear and after about 2 minutes of constant motion the temp dropeed right back down no problems, now the questions is, should i be concerned ,is this normal ? help help help lol ,cheers all,Den

im not familar with the nc35 temp guage...i know its slightly different to look at but i would say that to sit in traffic for 15 mins it is then quite normal for the temp to go up quite considerably.so long as the fan kicks in then there should be no worries and if it doesnt even reach high enough to even trigger the fan then even better. :D

Many, many years ago I had the pleasure of owning an RC-30, and it always used to do that in heavy traffic, especially at Daytona bike week. So what I did was wire in a manual toggle switch so I could immediately start to run the fans if I knew I was going to get stuck in traffic, and run them continuously. Never had a problem.

Did the fan come on?

Seriously, I don't remember, it was a long time ago. I remember though that I mounted the switch on the infill panel on the left next to the choke knob. The wiring connector for radiator fan is on that side, so it's just a matter of figuring out which wires to use. I must add that I still had it wired so the fan would come on off the temp guage/sending unit. It was kind of a manual override switch. If it started to get hot or I knew I was gonna be stuck, I just flipped the fan(s) on early. You can't run it like this all day, but it was great for short periods of time. I'll try to look at the NC-35 wiring diagram later.

Yes, get one of those spade connectors that are female but with a male connector as well, like these from maplins ( http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?Mod ... doy=search )


Connect a wire from this via a switch to earth. Remove the connector on the left of the radiator, connect this spade connector onto the rad, connect the original connector onto the spade terminal of the new connector.

Now when you flick the switch it will turn the radiator fan on, if you forget to then it will automatically kick in anyway, assuming you don't cut anything fitting the switch it also means you can reverse it out with zero damage to the bike.

I forgot to mention the way you test the fan is to remove this connector and earth it against the frame (with the ign on), the fan should come on when you touch it to an earth point.

You also want to use pretty heavy duty wire, I can't recall the actual gauge you need though. Check the fan fuse[1] and make sure it can easily cope with that.

the wiring for my fan is a bit shabby,feck knows what the last owner was on but i have noticed the fuse blowing twice now......could be because of the kind of wire being used,maybe!!!!!!!
