Exhaust link pipe

Hi,
ive just purchased a Carbon Can Co. end can off a seller on e-bay. With it I got only a small link pipe just a few inches long and another piece even shorter the same diameter of the wider part of the other. Is this correct for a VFR400 NC30 or should i use a longer one.
I was also wondering if the carbs will need re-jetting with this can.
