my mates just got a 23 as a project. when bought it was running ruff and lumpy and the seller said it only went like that when they fitted some other carbs as they thought the ones on where restricted (but there not)

i have fitted the orginal carbs back on but its still ruff , fairly noisey when revving and vibrates alot. its also not charging the battery

does a duff rectifier cause it to run like crap?

any advice? (the seller said they fitted new plugs but iam not sure on that one)

If it has a flat battery then you'll find it runs badly if it runs at all.

Sort the charging or use a booster battery and try it like that.

sorry forgot to say i put the perfectly good charged battery off my bike on it before starting after fittig the origianl carbs back on

Right, rectifier is duff. But bad running seems to be down to a couple of things.

Seller said he fitted new plugs, he probably did - in 1992 ..............

And we also traced that a couple of the plug caps where faulty and causing no or intermitent sparks.

So swap them out and we should be good! Another nc23 returning to the road soon
