ok yesterday was racing at thruxton and in both races I was scraping the fairing, crash bung and rearset on the deck (impressed people in the paddock lol), scared the shit out of me when the back wheel lifted at flat out round a corner. the crashbungs are R&G non drill type but have had about and inch cut off them so I can get more ground clearance. the rearsets HRC items for an RC30/45 and the fairing are standard lowers so not stiply wide.

Just wondering is their anyway I can gain ground clearnace so it dosnt do it again? Im running a 17 rear wheel so would putting an rvf dogbone on give the fairings more clearance or just the rear end?

if anyone dosnt believe me their are pictures to prove it (although not of the fairings actually going down, that would be a cool shot)

Yep - you need the RVF dogbone mate..and probably a longer shock..have you got the RS250 fitted?

fitting the 35 wheel and then leaving the std linkages is a surefire way of decking it out.

yeh im gona get an RVF linkage (triangle thing and dog bone) and no still on standard shock, I got robbed twice trying to buy an rs shock so think im gona just get mine reconditioned

I scraped all of the the bottom off my NC24 last week, so badly that I ground off the exhaust clamp and the lower fairing bolt as well as putting a lovely 'binned it' finish to the lower half of my fairing

Maybe you need to lean off the bike more? Has anyone followed behind you to check your riding position? Afterall it will be cheaper than modding the bike :)

If I lean off the bike I never scrape anything, it's just i've injured my knee recently so not been leaning off hence grinding the bike away.. plus I think it might be kinda dangerous if something catches and digs in

yeh I do know I dont lean off that much but its becuase I used to lean off too much, like both dcheeks off the seat lol

now I sit about 1 1/2 arse cheeks off the seat knee out head down by the tank or just above it but leaning off wasnt much of an option as my knee was being pushed up by the ground and down by the bike lol

Im a bit anoyed tbh as the fairings were mint before but tbh its a race scar and a bit cool, were gona write around it, Thruxton goodwood corner 2009 lol theirs not much I can do about the bung and peg tho as their already cut down and raised up respectively so I guess hang off more and lean less is the only option

yeh i had a go on the cali superbike school simulator and at the time they said i hung off 2 much and tkaing my hands off when leant over my I couldnt hol dmyself on the bike so if i had a slide id have no control so now try and stay on a bit more but obviously a bit too much

cant see but it wore the foot peg like the bung and the white bit is were it scrapped the fairing up

with a 17" rear, standard shock and 30 linkage, I would say that you are 25-32mm to low in the back on rideheight. What sag do you run front and back, you should aim at 25-30mm front and 15-20mm rear with you onboard. Getting these basics sorted should help, but you got to work with bodypostion, so you know when you are at max lean.

Yeh i think the answer is rvf suspension linkage and hang off a little more

that was at the odiham td on 090's with the nc30 wheel on so a lower rear wasnt a problem then but even so ground clearance to the bung is minimal

trouble is I was planning to use the 18 rear for wets but ith the rvf linkage and 18"er the bike will be very unstable wont it?
