Water leaking past fuel cap?

Hi, i had a problem with my fuel cap, when it rained heavily or when i washed the bike, water got past the fuel cap and i could see it in the little gully around the neck of the tank. This must have got into the fuel, and the bike ran rough for a bit till it cleared out. It was a fake carbon fibre cap that came with the bike, so i bought a proper second hand honda one, and it still does it!
Anyone else have this problem? What can be done>
Cheers

I thought any water or spilt fuel drained away thro a pipe onto the top of the air box and down a rubber pipe? look under the tank for the drain hole.

It's not designed to be totally water tight, only the actual filler hole in the middle is meant to be sealed and even then not totally. Water is pretty free to get into that 'gully' around the filler hole but there should be a drain hole in that 'gully'. If that drain gets blocked though water will hang around and then it might get into the fuel.
Normally either the drain tube gets blocked in the tank or the tube gets pinched. You didn't say which bike you have though as the drain routings are different on each.
I'd take a pipette[1] and pour a bit of water into the drain in that 'gully' if the water flows away all is fine, if it doesn't then pop the tank off and check all the tubing, maybe run a piece of wire through the drain hole in the 'gully'.
I've seen it on some where there would be a bit of water that would be in there on the stand but would drain once you got it upright.

If you lift the fuel cap you'll see the drain hole on the far left (as you sit on the bike). It's quite hidden under the rim as normal. Not sure on the NC30 what the drain tube situation is like under the tank.
