just looking for some advice as i dont know to much about bikes.
i got an nc23 a couple of weeks ago and had a starting problem with it,i had to bridge it at first to get it started but today i got a nw solonoid(if thats how its spelled),so now its starting with the button.

i also have another problem wich i thaught was the regulator rectifier but the guy at the local bike shop tested it today and seems to think that its ok,he said the battery should be getting a charge but it doesnt seem to be,he now recons its the alltinator,would it be ok to to go to a breakers and get a second hand one as im really skint,ive spent everything i have on the bike so far and my girlfriend doesnt want me spending anymore,i think i could get one new for about 60 pounds but if i could get one second hand for half that then i could get it fixed this week.

btw,can the altinators from the nc30 or any other type of bike be used.

You have an NC23? As in a CBR400R?

BTW: you shouldn't really spend all of your budget on an old bike, they all usually need something doing to them.

The NC23 came with two different types of altenator, the NC30/NC24/NC21 won't fit.

As for a 2nd hand one, you can try it. It might work, it might not. You can perform some tests with a multimeter to see if its ok, but they don't test for breakdown under-load.
