Poorly NC30

Here we go...

On track last night for a couple of hours - everything was grand, bike was going well etc.
Dug it out of the van this morning and went to start it, but it was quite reluctant to start.
Got it going and pulled off but 400m down the road it died as if it was running out of petrol.
I switched to reserve thinking that would do it but it got progressively worse until I coasted to a halt.
Let it sit for five minutes and tried starting it again, it would rev to 3k but as I twisted the throttle further it died off again.
After a few more minutes it wouldnt even start.
Pushed it home and got the SP1.
Any ideas? Speedo pick up?

Cheers,
Al

Edited to add that bike is not restricted, the speedo is fitted and it has never given bother like this before.
Also that it makes no difference if the bike is in nuteral or in gear.

the vacuum pipe hasn't worked loose and come off by any chance? or have you done the fuel tap mod?

Strange one Al..

Is your battery spinning it up OK to start? Good call on the vacuum too..

Is there fuel in the tank ;)

 fuel!!!!

Yes there is fuel in the tank. Furthermore the run/stop switch is in the correct position. ;)

Fuel tap mod not done - I'll check the vacuum pipe and report back.
Battery is working fine.

No joy so far, tried it again when I got home and it was the same. Pulled the tank off and had a look but all tubes seem to be ok and the plugs looked alright. Surprising as I was running about for 6 weeks with an extra 1.5 litres of oil  bloody garages...

I'll get stuck into it properly on saturday.

Cheers,
Al

Take a look at the point where the vacuum hose finishes up at. Shine a torch in there since mine was ruptured completely in that area.

Yes is can if too much crankcase pressure builds up it blows the seals or forces it up past (or worse through as in destroys) the rings, a lucky escape me thinks !

If I've got this right, thats the thin fabric coated hose that goes from the tank somewhere into the carbs??

Will check and report back.
