I have now a second project on the go. its in a bit of a state, always was a dog of a bike. anyway abit of info for you all so you can help me get it on the road again! its a fzr 400 exup 1989 reg, but im not sure wot model it is, No fairings so carn't tell from the ram air ducts, any one no of a way of telling what model it is? will load some pics when i get some taken as the bike is in my mums garage.

You should be able to work out what model you have with the chassis number

Anyone got any advice on what to do with the exup valve, i think its had it.

Chances are, if it's a 1989 it's 3en2. The frame should be like this



and with the bodywork like this



If the exup is seized then you'll probably find the bushes have gone. You'll need to take the cover of and then the plate on the exhaust. The bolts will probably sheer offn when you do it so it might be easier to just drill them out straight away.
BUT
before you do that take a look at the cables and see if they've frayed where they come out of the sheath. Try taking them right off and turning the valve manually.

What state are the downpipes in ... if they're quite rusty then you'll be better off looking for a better set, although they're not easy to find.
