Bike in question GSXR400.
Since i bought the bike about 2months ago, i had problems starting the bike. The battery usually died within one week since charging. Last saterday I replaced the battery with a new one. Since then i rode the bike 3times, maybe a distance of 40km. Yesterday the bike started first time, when i got to the petrol station i tried to start it but it was as if the battery was on its way out, the bike just swings but does not want to start. So eventually the bike was jump - started, went straight home, took the cage to the gym. When i got back tried to start the bike again and it did start. This morning the the bike did not want to start as if the battery does not have enough power. Pls help

Charge the battery on a charger, if then the bike starts fine the battery is ok which means it is not being charged so chances are:

50% - regulator/rectifier
30% - Connector loose/corroded
15% - Generator
5% - Other

thanx. i will get the regulator checked out as well as for loose connections.

check your reg/rec connectors, i had something simalar ,and the red wire had corroded away on both sides of the connector

One of the stator coil wires was broken. Replaced the stator. Took a ride on sunday and now the bike starts 1st time. Rode for about +-60km with out the batt losing power

Its under the righthand engine cover, follow the wires out of the top of the cover to the point under the seat where they meet the main loom and there will be three yellow wires, one from each of the stator coils.

is it the 3 yellow wires that connect to the reg/rec. thanks

Yes they are the ones that will lead you to the stator, it is under a casing on the left side of the engine.
