Ok ok, I've been a bit slack with this over the winter but after some friendly ribbing by Eamonn Holmes and the Ulster boys about how May can't really be classed as winter I've got things moving again.
A\ few months ago I moved the bike to my Olds place as I didn't fancy starting the thing up properly in our courtyard (I doubt I'd be that popular with my neighbours if I did) so it had to sleep in the hall for a night.
Anyway, with the bike at my parents I kinda forgot about it. However a thoroughly nice Australian Gentleman was kind enough to sell me an HRC temp guage which meant that a threaded boss would have to be made for the rad in order to fit the sensor. Daddy to the rescue!!!! He's kinda used to working on big lumps of steel rather than Alluminum but the principle is the same so whilst he got busy with his lathe I got busy with a drill bit and put a big hole in my radiator, not scary at all honest.....
Here's the results.
I was going to get the boss welded on tto the tank but was advised against it just incase it distorted the tanks and cracked one of the passage ways. Instead I'll be JB welding it on with Marine chemical metal. I've done a test with a couple of bits of scrap ally and it seems like its going to work well.

not worth a carrott
I agree mate. Once the radiator is back on (should be next week but who knows, you don't want to rush these things

) I think I'm gonna cross my fingers and fire it up and hope that all the head work won't have broken the bike....

Just a quick question. Because I'm skint at the moment and don't want to buy a batt for the NC is it a viable option to jump it from the ZX636 by just connecting the jumper leads to the pos/neg leads on the NC without there being a battery installed? If yes, it could be running next friday, if no nothing is going to happen until next month

Yep, just make sure you have a firm connection.

No bottom lips lad...
Get it full of go go go juice and record the event for posterity. Have you had the pleasure of a bike with no quietening gears yet?
It will either whiz up and start or it will go clunk and you can kick it.. I reckon it will work lovely style...
Is it Friday yet? When do I have to check this thread again?
