howdo royster,
Am using the toggle switch that G sent me...plugged in and assume it works... I will try the barrel I have too..
btw - got your msg ref s/arm. going to be bagged and packed and sent soon as I am not skinted like a mofo

It will come..just think field of dreams...
I think it is going to stump me for a bit...but I will get there! It needs fundamental stuff like a chain and front sprocket at least..

no worries on the arm as i was just asking if there was any movement on it....field of dreams ...
are you going to be visiting knockhill this year or anglesea as i think a load of us irish boys are coming over with a KicKass Sv6fiddy and i'd like to meet up with you again for a brew and a shifty over this project,
also i only ask about the barrel as when we did my killswitch ignition we had a bit of bother with a black/white wire but that was quickly sorted,if the nuetreul plug attached to the motor down by the right rearset ?
and could you not fire a left hand swtich gear on so you could rig the clutch diode up to rule out the no start cos it's in 6th ?
i hate it when things don't work as they should ....

Coming along well Mark.
If the loom is standardthen the bike won't start in gear unless you have the clutch in. You could get around it by just permanently joining the 2 wires (or plugging them into the clutch lever!).
Just have a close look over it, bet you're keen to get it started!

Well... just got back from the garage and I have the bugger spinning ont he starter but I cannot amke it fire.
I got fuel
I got spark
I have a std filter and airbox on.
I swapped the rear plugs for brand new ER10EH (not front as I had no strength at the time)
The reason it would not turn over was the fact it was in 5th gear...lol
So..Seeing as I have answered these questions for everyone else once upon a time - why won't it start!
Fuel is fresh from a can. battery was fully charged. Sparks were good even before I swapped plugs.
Choke is fitted and works. carbs have std 118/120 on full system.
If anything it is flooding but am not using throttle and idle is not screwed in too much
I am very very excited about it rumbling into life but have pretty much (apart from front plugs) exhausted all the possibilities I can think of...

You should know the answer to this mate!
Are you sure the carbs are getting fuel? Fuel tap etc? Has the exhaust been popping (flooding) or no sound at all? If the back plugs are good you should get some sign of life out of the engine.
How long have you been cranking the engine over for? Remember the carb bowls will need to be filled, it's taken what seems ages for me sometimes.
Suggestion: Take a break and return to it tomorrow! That's how most of my problems are solved.
Just a month ago I couldn't start one of my bikes for ages, then realised I hadn't filled the tank after draining it the day before... reminded me in a big way to start with the basics!

LOL.. I know!
I tried to start it again this morning when I went to collect no9 for work. Not a sausage. Am beginning to think that some form of cut out is in place...but then I thnk it cannot be as there is sparkm (on the rer plugs anyways) I guess I am going to have to swap the front plugs and test the coils. I might even whip the RVF carbs off no9 and try them - they are guaranteed to work...I think.
Saying that - I have never seen this motor run. It has been sat for over 18 months doing sod all and I have swapped the front head and valves on it (no clunking or crunching when it span over - which was nice

)
Anyways - nearly there.. He has brakes on too. Just need a chain and sprockets to be able to razz it round the block when it does fire
Sharing the garage with my mates FZR too - this old skooler needs a new shock but other than that is in pukka condition. A very nice bike. (not a V4 though

)
I need a shorter, lighter can...
So..we are getting there...I only hope I have not missed something obvious for starting the fecker..lol
Any advice welcome..even if it is sucking eggs..

Kill switch ?????? Have you checked that they are wired up correctly ??? That was the issue with mine.
But do you get a spark if that is the problem ?
Matty.

Cheers Matty,
yeah, I get a spark and have drowned the kill switch in WD40 and switched it multi times.. I will try the one from No9 and see if that makes any difference
Any more!
