That seat cowl looks fantastic. Is that a pyramid one . I've just ordered one for my NC30, but it has not arrived yet .

The cowl was second hand and didn't have a make or label on it anywhere. It has an odd way of fitting to the seat unit/ subframe, the front edge of the cowl has two hook like pieces (padded with foam) which hook onto the actual plastic either side of the lock. Not like the normal hooks that hook into the subframe.
The cowl is made of fibre glass - but appears a high quality glass, not the cheap race style fairing stuff.
I'm happy with it all though

Been busy on the bike today - and got it a nice new treat too!!

The Carbon Infills from Carboninfinity.com (V4Chris) - they look great and hardly weigh a thing!! Thanks Chris.



Polishing the frame is taking quite a while - and I have blister on my thumb the size of a 5p!

And the seat cowl when placed where it will eventually go looks even better than i thought it would.

lookin good mate, go proper techy and tell us the weight saving for the carbon infills over standard, u no u want to lol

Have you had your seat recovered, Smev? Looks like a suade sort of cover, or is this just the picture? Where did you get it done?

Hi there yes the seat has been recovered - and it is suede effect material.
I did it myself - I cut the old one off carefully and traced around it onto the new suede cloth.
I then placed it on the seat pad - stretching it to fit and stapling it in place with a pretty heavy duty stapler.
And thats it - easy job!!
Plus it looks good too.
Some people said I'd have problems moving around on it when hanging off to get my knee down - But I haven't really noticed any difference.

I have been busy the last couple of days finishing off the polishing of the frame - I even quickly used the mops on the swingarm to buff that up again!

Here are a couple of pics of how its looking now - well sort of - its now in the garage with the engine positioned under it ready to be refitted. Think I'll be using a trolley jack to help me!







More pics soon as the engine goes back in and I paint the subframe.

Looking good there. I just fitted V4Chris's carbon infills too! :D

The Carbon infills are great - can't wait to get my bike all back together and see how they look then too.

I've been out in the garage again today and fitted the engine.
It started off like this - on blocks - and I was going to attempt to fit it on my own.


but my mate with the garage next door turned up and helped along with his trolley jack!
And we ended up with it fitted like this -


I was pretty amazed how easily it went back in too!
I have aslo now refitted the chain and front sprocket, and threaded the wiring loom back to roughly where it should be!

I was about to fit the subframe and thought why not tidy that up too - so gave it a quick rub down, some primer and then a coat or two of gloss black - looks pretty neat to me! I've left the area where the reg/rec fits bare-ish so the heat is absorbed more easily.

So that is ready to fit back on in the next day or two aswell.
Looks much healthier with an engine in place!!

Well been busy on the bike again today - got a load more done which is good cos I want to get out riding on it soon!! :)

Since the last update I have put the subframe on properly, Fitted the carbs and rads, the Rick O cdi with HRC map, fitted the air box and fuel tank, Carboninfinity Infills, rear hugger, sorted out most of the wiring to the Translogic dash and......

today it started first time :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

Not bad for a complete strip and clean and being stood for about 6 months!!!





All I have left to do is sort a bracket for the relocated ignition, sort the tacho part of the dash, and pop the rest of the fairing back on, replace the left hand headlight, sort the steering stops, tidy the exposed wiring, sort the front brake microswitch, and give everything the once over to make sure nothing has been left loose............... :)

Hopefully not too much longer!!!
