Hey glad things are okay with the piston
Seting the cams isn't to hard as long as you follow the heinz manual.
When i turn my engine and line the T1 and T2 marks the lines on the end of the cams (on mine anyway) dont line up absolutly spot on, they were just a little forward or back of the mark about 0.5 to 1mm. If you are a tooth out on the cam gears you will know as it will be about 3mm off the line on the end of the cam.
Also do you have a torque wrench? as the 3 brass head bolts on each head are easily broken. (broke one of mine ) dont over tighten them!

yep, i have a torque wrench, nout special it's only a draper but it's good enough. :)

One of the the bolts that screw into the oil distributor has a dodgy thread so I've ordered a new one, along with a new gasket for the clutch cover and a new air filter.

Exams start Thursday so won't get a chance to do anything now till next weekend anyway. Still, getting there slowly. :D

Well after 51 day, £78 and hours of sweating and swearing i have achived thus:

I'm happier than a pig in swine. I've gone through 4 heat cycles now and have just change the oil. Just about to take the forks out as dust and oil seals should be here tomorrow. Get here backtogether and off for the MOT Friday morning all being well i should be on the road by Friday evening.

Cheers gents. Yep it's a great feeling fixing it your self. I confident now that should anything go wrong with the engine now, I'll be able to fix it on my tod(with a little help from you guys ) I dread to think how much it would have cost me to get all that work done a a garage. :-S

Went for a quick blast last night before taking the forks off, was surprised by how much pull it's now got and that first gear sure is long!!!! :D

Anyhoo, I'm off to attempt to change the fork oil and seals so i may well be back for some more help very shortly.

no probs mate, still have them in an envelope in the garage.

should be back ( with no volcanic ash or what ever they think of next! ) on monday 28th and my next day off is the thursday 24th.

would be good to get some pictures of them next to each other. i have not had mine next to another nc30 to compare how much she has changed in size length / width etc to standard.
