you are all a bunch of bastards!
He'll get there in the end.
Working fuel tap worries me though don't remember reading why that had failed? Or whether it is leaky float valves?

Re: xivlia's thread of nc30 problems and questions
I have the utmost respect for people trying to fix their bikes and having a go themselves, but I think this thread is at the point where an experienced peep needs to have a look over this bike - this is not meant to sound offensive. I reckon it will save xivlia a whole lot more headaches later on.
Seriously, we're at page 90 and you've decided to finally get a decent reg/rec and a new battery? Unfortunately the old saying of fix it once properly and fix it good is appropriate here. These bikes are not difficult to fix, but any dodgy/cover up fix will bite you back harder unless the problem is properly rectified.
Please try and find a willing member that lives nearby and ask them to look over it - before summer runs out!

Re: xivlia's thread of nc30 problems and questions
well i did buy a new reg/rec and a bettery and new plugs very recently... and i hadnt used the bike much either, so those failing all at the same time, would seem almost impossible right? i know plugs are easy to kill, so i think thats the first thing im going to check.
and about my fuel tap, its a little dodgy i think because when its OFF, its off.. nothing flows, but when its on ON, or RES, the fuel flows freely without vacuum being applied, so my guess is drowned engine and soaked plugs. i did turn off the fuel tap before leaving for my holiday but i forgot to take the plugs off to evaporate any of the fuel in the engine.

Then you didn't rebuild it correctly.xivlia wrote:yeah i thought i did too, but its still the same crap, its not working correctly.
As I said in the other thread.
You don't need to keep buying X Y and Z parts.
Your throwing money all over the place and thinking drastic things like stripping the engine will somehow fix your problems.
From your post you don't seem to know if the reg/rec battery etc are dead, even though you've asked many times and been told many times how to test them.
Same with the fuel tap. You've not rebuilt it correctly if it isn't working hence you still having problems.
You can mess with the bike for the rest of your life but if your not actually fixing anything and don't know for sure then it is never goign to get better.
Forget the tools, forget stripping the enginge, forget what ever crazy wild ideas you have. Forget everything.
Hire a van and drive to somebody who knows the bikes. Sit with them, drink beer, watch like a hawk how they do things, understand why it works and how its fixed.
Here is an example:
My bike felt like it was wanting to run wide in bends lately, it just wan't turning in as well as it normally does any my riding hasn't changed.
Just from google and asking friends about this symptoms, here are some of the common suggetsions:
Suspension worn (rebuild)
Fork oil wrong (replace)
Tyres worn (replace)
Suspension incorrectly setup (resetup)
bad type pressures (correct)
So you can see, many things from the same cause.. if you dont' know for sure what your acutally doing how do you know if you'll fix it?
I found the front tyre was a couple of psi down.. filled it up but didnt' do any riding until next week... problem was still there, it felt like it was harder to turn.
Tracked it down to a slow leak on the front filler valve.. when I re-chcked the air it was down a few psi again.
But even in my case, unless I was 99.9999% sure what I was doing was goign to fix the problem then i'd just be wasting time and pissing money away.
I could have had the suspension reubild and overhualed, setup to my weight and had new tires fitted, when I didn't need.
To fully understnad you need
1. to know why the broken part is causing the bike to act like it is.
2. know how to fix and / or replace it
3. know / expect what will happen when you change it.
Try to never change anything on a hope that somethign will happen.
I hate to post again and again, I sound like a mean miserable git but you dont' seem to understnad. Your suggestions and ideas get crazier and craizer, you get more frustarted, spend more money and your poor bike gets worse and worse... al of which can be fixed uickly by taking ti to somebody who knows the bikes well.

Mate, stop buggering things up & just listen, everyone is here to help, some cant help but take the piss, as honestly, your thread is like sit-com of disastrous fixes - you need to learn from your mistakes, not keep making more.
Its easy for some people on here to fix bikes, me myself have been building (breaking) bikes, since I was a kid, others here restore, break up & rebuild bikes for almost a living.
I know you're asking the questions but you're not taking the advice, PLEASE GET SOMEONE TO LOOK @ THE BIKE BEFORE YOU GO ANY FURTHER!
I had a mate, who recently got a "ebay bargain" gpz500s-ex (yes, sex) he paid £311 for it, the idea was to fix it up, have a cheap run around & then sell it @ the end of summer for a small profit.
He spent £1300 on the sack of shit & it was still crap when he finished, with multipul issues - it was his 1st attempt & he has learned from this, the most valuable lesson, get some help!
He sold the bike last week for £500.
Surely someone on here is willing to go help him?

Re: xivlia's thread of nc30 problems and questions
yea, i want to take it to someone but i do not have a car or van or a license, only got a bike license. if i had a car license i would hire a van and ask around here if anyone would want to take a look at the bike.
i really dont want to take it to mechanics as they are charging me stupid amounts.
