i suppose i should be doing that, but my dad is insisting that i sell this bike at once... i kind of dont want to. because even if i did sell it, i cant ride anything newer or faster due to my age, and because of this my insurance is always extremly higher with any bike that is over 400cc... and also the fact that i wrote off my r125 on a head on collision with a 2010 model Audi s4 in 2009, doesnt help the quote prices... :P. if i were to attempt at such a thing like that, it would probably need to be in the winter when its off the road and once we build a proper garage for me to work in.

Either that or sell it as a project and get a 250 hack like a kwak kx.

Just maybe he knows what he's talking about? :scare:

Any rear brake on your ex r125?
But go on - sounds like a good story to tell

Seriously tho, taking the time out for a proper rebuild/thorough check of all components, fasteners & systems would be time very well spent for you by the sounds of it, particularly if there is someone who knows these bikes near you that you could guide you - you'd learn a great deal, hell - I know I would & I recon myself competent with a spanner or two.

No.. just ride the damn bike. This is supposed to happen when you put the choke on when the bike is already warm. Now I think you are just trolling us!

iDemonix wrote:In all seriousness, if you plan on keeping this bike: Why don't you just start again? Strip it right back to bare frame completely dismantled. Turn the frame into a rolling frame, sorting out the bearings, hub, forks etc. Fix up the engine whilst it's out the frame, make a nice loom and tape it all up, replace connectors etc. Drop the engine in, strip and completely rebuild the carbs and whack an exhaust on. Then spend £50 on a vac gauge set, fire up the naked bike, tune the carbs so they're all sync', see how you go from there.

If you start from scratch and check each/every component along the way, it's very hard to have a bike that doesn't run well.
I honestly dont think thats a good idea, no offence xivlia but you've turned a few basic problems into a near 90 page thread and now have a seriously sick bike. Learning is all well and good but only when your shown how to do it right from the off. Your dad is right, sell it but for gods sake sell it as project/non runner so the next person doesnt attempt to ride the thing and die.
Take it on the chin and put it down to experience, save/ borrow the money and buy decent bike from someone on here.

well i crashed my r125 when i was out on a ride with my uncle, he was on his vtr1000 firestorm, and me on the r125, we were going on twisty roads and there was a bend turning to the left. so i slowed down to turn, i was going at 70mph.... but i slowed down to 40 to turn, but i was at the left hand side on my lane, and as i was leaned over to turn, my front wheel caught on some piles of gravel which where on that exact fucking point on the road just as i leaned over. and that made my front wheel skid and i lost control, so instead of turning i went straight into the right lane and hit into the oncoming car. :P

My moneys on you got target fixation after applying the brakes whilst trying to turn!

Hench you going straight and not left, shiuld have hung in, you can throw a rs125 into a corner at 70 quitr easily and probally come out laughing, you should see some if the irish road racers chuck there 125s at the athea rr chicanes 6th gear and flat out.
