Re: CMSMJ1 - race bike build thread
Yeah I agree. Mine has been modded like hrc, but aluminium bracing would be a better option. I know of someone on here that's making a carbon carb bracket also...CMSMJ1 wrote: Carbs wise..if Mr Scott has had his V4 guru hands on them you can bet that there are more tweaks to them than the chopped carb tray. Saying that, the tray being chopped answered the question that we were asking in another thread. Was it for airflow or weight?
Weight I reckon...
Forget chopping the subframe, buy some alloy square tube, cut it and clamp it together and go hire a tig, probably cost less than 25 quid.

Re: CMSMJ1 - race bike build thread
Cheers Cammo, Yeah, it is coming on...slowly..
I am have been fiddling with no9 and am going to stick it in here as I am using it to learn Mallory next Wednesday
Cannot beat a bit of whoring the road bike. (gold wheels are good or not??)

Carbs wise I have 2 sets - one with Bakudan needles and jets, std slides and 1 washer. The other set with NC24 slides, std needles and washer with 135 jets.
Neither have the tray chopped...yet. Is it Jon doing the carbon brackets?
The bike will be rocking as soon as I finish..I canont wait but work has taken too much time of late with the ballache credit crunch so I need to make sure I am in the job come the new year.. same for us all I reckon but a pain in the ass.
If I could make a bike a tenth as mental as VenomKen's bike I will be happy. If the motor is screwed then I see a big bore happening to it and the engine out of no9 being fitted....
I will get some work on it tomorrow and will prob fit my rads and finish some carbs. Might even get a battery in it and try to start it if I get home early enough. whoop whoop

Re: CMSMJ1 - race bike build thread
lol - they are not mine mate...wish they were! FCR carbs are out of my league! I forgot I have a bikepics page...need to update it I reckon.
ref the bits = good arrows mate!
I am off work tomorrow so I will see about sticking my rads on and some carbs and maybe...just maybe giving the starter a press!
Knowing me...it won't be tomorrow but I need to get movin on it again after riding the BMC RVF at the weekend I need a pukka race bike all of my own!

Re: CMSMJ1 - race bike build thread
Righty ho - so maybe I did a bit of work on it yesterday and it is coming ever closer to get that button press and see if it turns over nicely.
I have fitted the loom, the rads and the carbs (as a temp no clamps basis)
The carbs has 118/120 in them and I will use an airbox for now to make sure it is as std as possible for the first firing up.

I put my battery in, connected the ignition and pressed the button. not a sausage. no click, no buzz or pop. The vike does not have the wires connected to the levers and it is also in 6th gear form when I needed to undo the mondo tight rear wheel nut.
Any obvious ideas people? I have checked fuses - all present and unbroken. I have confirmed that all the plugs I have available are plugged in. CDI is in, battery in, starter earthed..
Is it to do witht eh bike being in 6th and the clutch lever wires ont being attached? I really want to hear this thing turn itself over on the starter.
I checked the oil too before starting..lol - It has oil halfway up the dipstick! I am going to have to drop the oil out as I don't want to start itwith 5 litres in it!!
So you can see...it is coming!! Bring it on

what are you using for the ignition as i don't see a barrel ?
It's not having what you want but wanting what you've got....Loud ,Proud and Modified ....
