Prob with the aprilia is as most bikes these days needs microsoft and not spanners.

Am not to bad normally believr it or not I have checked shims and adjustable tappets on all other bikes ive had its just that false reading I got confused things. The good part is while I had the head off I cleanen and lapped all valves and pistons etc so its running better than ever now .
We live and learn I guess. With hind sight I should have listened to my gutt instinct with the fueling issue but when you have checked everything according to the manual its gonna send you elsewhere.
Note for future bench only for carbs lol.
I even put new float needles and seats/orings in all carbs ordered from newzealand .
Just bad luck. As for bench test my ocd bench is level and I used the bike tank with power attached to the pump off a car battery.

Put down to experience and wat an experience it was .
Gotta say this forum is way more active than fzr archives thanks again fellas .

Dave.

Ps if anybody wants their carbs cleaning I can do it in 20 mins flat :-).

Have you had it out for a run yet ?
Fookin April showers in May here. :(

That thermo gun I linked made £2.50 more at auction than the BIN ones.(shows how folk get on a bidding war !) :o

I reckon running a bit higher fuel level and a bit richer is preferable to the grief of lower and lean unless you race and
need every last ounce of power.

Plenty of info to read on here anyhow now you know where the place is.

We also have archives going back to 2002; but its a bit dusty back there;

no not been out for a run on it yet bill i have been giving my carbs the ocd treatment yeah yeah i cant help myself

all the levels are so spot on its unbelievable ,its weird how different the float levels (measured physically) are on each carb to get the same result fuel height wise .number 1 is at 8mm and number 4 is at 10mm etc .i suppose it depends on how the tabs have been bent and how they make contact with the valve. anyhow they are all the same level now yay.

need to blast it now to get rid of the oil in the headers from when i did the wet tests prior to removing the head . that should clear up with a blast to devils bridge i hope ...

as for that thermal gun i was bidding but as you say it went way to high .i have ordered one that goes to 700 degrees on buy it now so its all good.

You will need a Carbtune Pro if you are confident the mixtures are correct.
See; its spend, spend, spend when you are fanatical.

Make sure all the headers have an equal amount of rust on them .

Or you could just ride the damn thing . :o

What do you reckon with the pro; versus to mercury predecessor ?

I only mention coz I ordered a pro and a new auxiliary tank yesterday.
