Hello mate

Thats a shame - it would have been nice to get them back to tip top condition. I think you are correct that they are a wrapped alloy tube - but I guess they are then just covered witha standard exhaust sleeve which is riveted into place. An easy fix IF you could get the kevlar sleeves :(

Might just have to go for normal carbon sleeves instead.

I wondered what they would look like fitted and the only picture I managed to find was one of Micpec's on page 18 of the exhaust thread (viewtopic.php?f=23&t=6071&start=170) which doesnt' look too bad, but not easy to get full perspective of the bike etc.

I was lucky as the system came with a seperate "y" piece made to link the pipes from the front and rear cylinders and allow fitment of a single can - shown in the foreground:

The single can shown there comes from (I belive) a Ducati and will work as a track day option, but if the twin stack turns out to look too.... bulky I can always utilse the single can link pipe and, I reckon, and fit one of my ART cans which I have always liked on the bike.

My cans are in real nice condition so at some point im going to get rcv4 to convert them to a spring type fitment and get some smaller diameter cans made so I can swap them over, or to keep them original have 2 new link pipes made and smaller cans.

I also think the system would look better if a high level hanger was used to bring the rear of the cans up a bit so they run in line with the seat unit, im close to fiting mine so will keep you posted and ge some pic's

Tony + Ian. My ganador system wasnt 1 piece kevlar but my yammy spec a twin stack was exactly as tony said. Alloy sleeve with a very think kevlar wrap over it.

Fitted the system earlier ian and noticed mine already has a high level hanger, did yours come with a hanger? this might be why photos of bikes with the system fitted ive seen look like the cans hang to low as there using the stock hanger.

I'll try get some bodywork on later and get some pics

The cans seem to hang ok on mine so it must be down to the hanger why they looked to low on the picture i see however i did have to trim the seat unit to clear the hanger

Haven't had much time to really inspect them at length but I am pretty sure that they are indeed aolloy tubes covered in Kevlar. I thought (assumed) that this would be like a normal exahust can sleeve that slipped over the alloy tube and was then held in place byt he rivets at the end - as such being totaly cosmetic and not at all functional. I hadn't though about some form of thick kevlar wrap...Hmmm :?

Tony, same strap but no high lift hanger unfortunately..

Do you reckon yours is a bespoke jobbie - or has it just been crafted into a hi lift hanger from an OEM item (just looks a bit like a modified OEM item in the pics).

[Edit] - Once the end cans are raised a bit and follow the line of the seat unit better...I don't think they look too big at all. Happy again now as I a picture is starting to form in my head

Cans are 100% alloy with kevlar laid over, looks far to thin of a layer to be a sleeve.

Its not a modified stock hanger as its different in design too

Rick O sells some nice alloy high lift hangers

Actually got around to tidying up the boxes that the exhausts/shock came in and that were still in the lounge today and discovered x2 things.

First I think you are all correct and these are ally tubes wrapped in some sort of stick on Kevlar wrap....
Image

Obviously these still need some serious attention and will be going off to worship at the metalwork alter that is rcv4 :worthy:

Second (Ian orders a large piece of humble pie) one should always check the boxes you get your goodies delivered in properly rather than just taking out the shiny or intreating stuff, as looking in there again today I also found this...Image

Again could be tidied up a bit - but disregard my last as YES i do have a high level hanger
