I've sent it back but in NZ nothing ever happens quickly. It took me over a week to get one can of gold heat resistant paint for the callipers and discs, which are now done.
Still no sign of my bits from David Silvers after nearly 3 weeks. Goodridge hoses came from the UK in 3 working days!
Ain't you off to the IOM soon Brooky? Don't worry if you don't get the gold matched before you go. I'm weeks away yet mate.

cheers, not gettnig to iom this year, with sponsor problems ian has had to pull out, no matter what we tried we were still short or either bikes, signitures for mountain course or entries so thats it cancelled. Going to try and get over for the senior and a friends birthday party on the saturday though.

Finally got back from site for a weekend yesterday. It was my birthday so my lovely wife let me do this to the dining table.
I'll get some better photos when I remeber to bring my camera back from work.

Oh she's pretty good like that Mike, so long as I clean up after myself. We've got 4 spare rooms here, all of which are filled with shoes and handbags, so I get forgiven a few things.
Even if she does kick me out of the house the garage is home from home.
I didn't make much progress in any case. Back to work the next day for another week.

One of the guys back in the shop sent me some shims up to where I'm working so I can check before cutting batches.
The cut is very clean though there is one sharp spot which I think you will see on the right hand side of the shim next to the vernier, about half way along the edge. This is where the laser started/stopped it's cut.
Easy to fix and otherwise they look pretty good. 0.50 shim steel in stock now so I'll get one of the lads to run me a load off.

Those look purely fantasic compared to the shims I make. They're loaded with burrs and sharp edges and are a pain to make. Laser is the way to go. GREAT JOB!!!!!

The final thing should be a tad be better Mike, made from true shim steel rather than coil, the true shim steel being accurate in thickness to about three decimal places. A good mill should be able to skim a head to three dicimals too so long as the gauge is calibrated to ambient (though that's getting abit fussy). The ones in the photo came out at 0.588mm (every shim checked and comes out the same to two decimals). Are these any good to you? I'll put them in with you're five sets of 0.50mm shims if you can make use of them.
