I know of whom you speak...he has the skills.
I've just broken my race bike engine after I spacked it by gong from 3rd to 2nd instead of to 4th...
not opened it yet...a bit sad about it.
What else is planned for it?

Re: Project NC29 spangly bastard!
Basically this winter it will be totally reframed (with v5), recon the rad, paint, powdercoat and grease everything, the new engine will go in, sussys to either k tech or maxton for a refresh, rebuild calipers, paint fairings if funds allow tyga RC front and RS125 tail, digi dash loads to do mate this is just doing bits between trackdays the full stripdown will happen over winter.
Engine wise...you have seen the casings so full stripdown, quietening gears removed, balanced crank, polished, polished and skimmed head, RVF pistons.
What with the other bits it should be quite trick when it's done.
And a daytime MOT lol

Re: Project NC29 spangly bastard!
Ok dokey done stuff...
Firstly my crank is back and has some holes in it, I'm told it's pretty good now only .5 out at each end opposed to the 11ish that it was.

Next up was the fireblade RRW radiator I'd started messing about with it before my hols but didn't get very far but I've spent the last couple of days in the shed and...
Had to make some brackets to drop it below the ram air scoop, I'm no engineer but they turned out ok.

Had to cut off all of the old brackets on the top of the rad and after some measuring and swearing got the brackets riveted in place and the rad dummy fitted in place.

Took it off again and gave it a rub down and lobbed some black paint at it, it will go off for a proper recon when the rebuild is done this winter.

Mounted the rad properly and made a bracket for the bottom fixing using one of the mounting points for the fan, it's now solid and also a few mm away from the downpipes.

Not the best pics but here it is, had some issues fitting the pipes but I was to lazy to go and get some boiling water.

Rad the bike up to 3/4 and no pipes burst so hopefully it will be ok we will see at cadwell.
Oh the only other thing is I fitted my new SES clip ons and me likey!

Got a few little bits to do before cadwell but that's about it now, I haven't actually checked to make sure the bodywork will clear the wider rad but I'm sure it will be fine lol.
Next up pics of the engine rebuild :)

Call me a spanner, whats the idea behind the rvf pistons? I know its only gonna be a simple matter of performance.

Re: Project NC29 spangly bastard!
Thanks, the RVF pistons have a different shaped crown they are the same as the last of the 29s but very different from the earlier models.
Now the question is....to lighten and balance the flywheel or not??

Cheers Martin, this is just the prelim the real rebuild will be done over winter.
It's pretty much done for this year now just need to set the sag on the front and replace the resevoir hose and that's it, have Cadwell on the 18th to try out the new forks and rad and hoping to get Dono in around september and then I'll start to pull it all apart again lol.
