'89 VFR NC30 - Wont start.

I suspect the oil to the top of the head is routed through the centre oil tubes, the H shaped thing in the centre of the head and/or the silver pipe which runs up between the heads, it starts on the body under the coolant tube and attaches just under the cam cover, in the V between the heads. There is one on each set of cylinders, the lower fixing contains an oil jet which controls the amount of oil which flows to the heads (i think) this could be blocked.

just re-read through this post do you mean these h shaped things, do then need t be removed??#




i've just got the oil pump out and am working my way through that atm a la haynes.

P.s is stripped the oil pump and reasembled only thing is i'm not sure if theres supposed to be a 3rd dowel, it's dosen't say how many in the haynes it just tells you to replace.



I've also cheked the 2 h shaped things, in the pic above, off and checked all the holes are clear, which they are. i'm not really sure what else to look.i can't find the place op goes on about where the oil feed comes from the pump into teh cylinder/cams and as such progress has come to a halt.

Any ideas

right,

I've put everything back together and tried to start it with the kill switch engaged and it's still doing the same feeding oil to the front but not the back cylinders.i left the h shaped thing off the back cylinders and when i turn it over on the button i can feel air coming out of the four holes where the h thing should be!?!?

Can any one help me??

It's killing me not having a working bike in this weather

There sounds like there is something blocking the oil passage to the rear cylinders. can you get the rear head off to check the oil passage pipes?
You will need a new head gasket it you do take the head off.
Or if you take the sump off, and try pouring oil down the cam oil feed pipes to see if it gets back to the oil pump that might show a blockage.
I am sure others on here will have a better idea

Nope - that is about as good an idea as I might have thought off.
It is likely that something is blocking one of the galleries and seeing the amount of shit in the strainer it might take some compressed air down the galleries to unblock it.

do you mean spray compressed air down the four holes that the bolts are in, in this picture?


or spray up from the sump where the oil pump attaches or is it somewhere completly diffrent??

I would try taking the H part off (as per pic) and the strainer on the oil pump, then blow from the top down, but try a little oil down each pipe first, and be careful not to blast other shit into the engine when you use the compressed air.

I mean the thing in the middle of this picture. Its a silver tube which takes oil from the crankcase to the heads, i think. Yours may not have them ?

I've just basted a load of compressed air down all the galleys, unblocked the nipples put the cams back on, still nothing.

Also i haven't got that feed pipe to the head.



Maybe air in a tin isn't compressed enough??

Yours are blocked, must be different. Mines an 1987 NC24.

Compressed air from a big compressor is much higher pressure than out of a tin.

Right, I'm gonna do as you sugested, drop the lump outta the frame and take it to a garage and get them to give it the beans with a compressor. :)
