sorry, i have just looked at my last post and realised i have not been anywhere near the 30' in over a month! thats what two children and a impending wedding do! i have purchased a cbr 900 rrx speedo which i have altered to accept the 30's rev counter and temp gauage whilst using the mph fireblade speedo, i am in the process of altering the wiring so it will all connect up and work. i have got hold of all oem honda fairings to replace the fibre glass grey ones, so i have all bank holiday weekend off so i will get some updates on over the next coulpe of days!

ok got somemore done today, the fibre glass fairings have been replaced with the oem hondas, i have had to cut these to accept the front wheel and turn them into a one piece panel either side instead of two piece as they lost their strength. i have only first attempt fillered them they will be properly preped before painting.

i have had to reduce the size of the fairing trims off the 600's body as they kept fouling on the forks hence why they are now so small. i have now managed to successfuly wire up the 900 fireblades clocks to the nc's electrics, i am using the speedo from the fireblade as it is in mph along with the temp guage as the face of the nc's temp guage is bigger, but i have mounted the nc's rev counter in the dials.

these pics arnt great but i tried to get an idea of how the lights will look at night:

anyway apologises for the delay in posts again but two children and an impending wedding are taking up so much of my time hope this will feed the intrest for a few days!

Looking good!

It actually fits quite well. Although I'm not sure if it's the pics, but it does look a tad front heavy?

So what paint scheme have you got planned?

i think it is the angle i have taken the pictures at that cause the heavy front end look, though the cbr has a longer wheel base than the '30 so from angles you may still get that feeling - may look better once she be painted up. i have settled on:

Image

i dont want lots of sponsers etc something very minimal something that will cause people to say what is it? i have had more people think it is a 600 with a single swing arm conversion than think its a 400 with a 600 body.

ok rear shock today...it looked rather tired and i was a bit suspect to its condition but after removal and a good clean all is good! no leaks etc, so i have refitted and am looking to locate the resevoir inside the subframe by the starter soleniod.

Image

i am going to locate the rear brake resevoir inside the subframe as well once i have modified or fabricated a battery box which is no as big as the original. this should then give the rear end quite a clean look.

Image

I have removed the complete exhaust to check the condition and all looks good, one collar is on its way out but al of the others still look very solid, i have a laser end can that will fit that is also e-marked and quite with the baffle in so will remove the standard can soon as it is badly marked in places. will post pics as soon as i can get the work done!

oh and vfr...al if you want any info on the subframe / tail section feel free to pm me

ok i have chopped off the original exhaust this evening, cant believe how easy it went. when ever i try something like this it never works this easy. granted i still have to pack the can and rivet the straps on it, fabricate a hanger bracket as well but the first steps have gone well this can just slipped on, no trimming of the original pipe or altering the can it was just the right size!

i apologise for the quality of the photos as the light had faded.

when i can get the fairings back on and the day light is on my side i will post better pics!

ok i have finished the exhaust, looks better now i have added the straps and rivets, you may notice on the underside of the subframe a small brassy colour lever this is part of the original set lock mechanicism that i have modified. though this does not 'lock' it does hold the rear seat cowl in place and opens and closes like the original but with out a key ( there is barley enough room to put my sandwiches in there for work let alone anything expensive )

http://i614.photobucket.com/albums/tt22 ... CT0542.jpg" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

i have also worked on the undertray today as wit hthe above picture and below i have removed the last of the big oem plastic undertray. i have replaced it with a single sheet of aluminum, this has raised the height of the battery slightly but not enough to cause any issues with the seat. the mechano in the picture below will be replaced with strong aluminum.

http://i614.photobucket.com/albums/tt22 ... CT0544.jpg" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

the large gap where the hose from the shock to the resevoir will be reduced greatly once i am happy with the fitting etc..

http://i614.photobucket.com/albums/tt22 ... CT0539.jpg" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

and i have finally taken her back out front so i can photo her roughly in the same position as before so i can see the changes / progress thats being made.

http://i614.photobucket.com/albums/tt22 ... CT0548.jpg" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

sorry about the links instead of direct photos but the quality is to large to display. once i can get back in the garage i will post some more details

ok a lot of work for what looks like not a lot of progress! i have made a start cleaning the exhaust up, as it looked really poor very suprised how well it has come up!

http://i614.photobucket.com/albums/tt22 ... CT0560.jpg" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; http://i614.photobucket.com/albums/tt22 ... CT0565.jpg" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
http://i614.photobucket.com/albums/tt22 ... CT0566.jpg" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

will be properly refitting that when i have welded some tabs on for the exhaust springs to mount to. Have spent the rest of the day working on the rear end. I have fabricated a battery box that is fixed to the lower part of the customer undertray so to remove the battery the lower par of the undertray is unscrewed and removed from underneath.

http://i614.photobucket.com/albums/tt22 ... CT0563.jpg" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

The rear brake resevoir now has it new position inside the subframe making the rear of the bike as 'clean' as possible.

i have altered the original exhaust hanger and sprayed it black as it was badly marked.

http://i614.photobucket.com/albums/tt22 ... CT0568.jpg" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
http://i614.photobucket.com/albums/tt22 ... CT0572.jpg" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

and here are a few general pics as the day went on.

http://i614.photobucket.com/albums/tt22 ... CT0569.jpg" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
http://i614.photobucket.com/albums/tt22 ... CT0570.jpg" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
http://i614.photobucket.com/albums/tt22 ... CT0574.jpg" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

with the rear fairing / subframe almost complete, time to move back towards the front fairing / clocks then time to put her all back together!

Thats looking really smart that is mate.Thanks for the offer of info on the subframe but sadly it looks like i will have to sell my bike as i need money for other things :( :( :( .I have had it on ebay twice now...first buyer never turned up and second emailed me to say that the bank would not lend him the money :roll: :roll: .

If i do get to keep it i will be in touch...although i do also have a tyga subframe that i may do something with.

Good luck with yours and i will keep an eye out for the finished pics....can't wait as i reckon all painted up it will look really smart.

well the info will be here if you need it, now i have the back end pretty much finished ( frabrication wise ) i will take it all off again and photo / measure all of the bits then to build a diy sort of how to guide as a friend wants the details to do the same himself so i will keep them on me laptop.

i still cant believe how much interest the rear end has caused, it is what caused the whole process i wanted to show off the rear wheel as much as possbile and thought the cbr fairing will open the back end up and it would be cheaper than a tyga version. I came accross pictures of the tyga kits, then found a bloke who put a k4 gsxr tail on a cbr 400 so i thought why not try a cbr end on a vfr...
