Finally got my hybrid running but the tacho dances about, is this to do with low fuel or not? I have no fuel circuit connected other than the cdi? Help! Otherwise I think I will use an aftermarket 1. :?

does it swing around wildly or does it go up to a certain number then sweep down and then repeat? if its the latter your getting an error code from the ecu.what ecu/cdi/black box are you using? 4jh or thundercat.if your using the t/cat one its probably telling you that the tps is disconnected or if its a 4jh one its probably telling you the fuel sender switch is faulty.let me know what the tacho sweeps up to and ill look up the error codes that i kept somewhere(i had exactly the same prob on both my t/cat and 4jh hybrids

Im running a 3tj loom and clocks with a 4jh engine and cdi. The tacho sweeps up to around 8k then drops then repeats. I'm thinking its the fuel circuit? Can it be disconnected from the cdi (green wire)???

I think i just joined the 2 wires together that should go to the fuel tank and it stopped this but the fuel light stays on all the time , no big deal as my hybrids are track bikes .....
Good luck

if the fuel light stays on .... you could just remove the bulb ... makes the bike lighter for racing

Ok, i'm planning on taking the plunge and fitting a t-cat motor to my 4dx. I've got first dibs on a motor and loom (thanks Chris 8-) ), but i'll need a few more bits and bobs.

Am i right in thinking that i wont need an sp rad for the oil cooling plumbing as the 4dx rad had this fitted?

What's the best bet with regards to headers/link pipe and end can?

3tj airbox mod or individual filters?

Can i plumb the 400 clocks into the t-cat loom (i've read various posts about tacho tap-dancing problems)?

Sorry if i'm asking the same questions as others but i'm prone to frequent blonde moments

Cheers,
Nick

I'd start with some standard downpipes with your aftermarket (???) can. it should be easier to get a mixture from the carbs that way.
Use Foxeye carbs and CDI
I'd go for the 3tj modded airbox - pods can be a basard to set up cos they need an amount of still air.

I think the rev counter dancing is a fault diagnosis

Some pics of how I fitted mine to keep the engine straight in the frame.

I stuck the 600r engine in my race bike tonight!! I am going to Almeria in Feb for 4 days and would have worn out my race engine so thought it would be better to use the 600 engine

Really easy conversion, I am well impressed. I even managed to get it working with the 400 race loom that is already on the bike. All I did was cut of the CDI connectors from the 600 loom and put spade connectors on the end of each one. Then just plug them straight into the 400 connectors.

Haven't done the airbox yet but wanted to make sure it ran so started it without one to check. Went first press of the button. Only problem was the fuel sender thing with the tacho sweeping, sorted that by earthing the green cable from the 8 pin plug.

I have an old Over race system for the 400 and the header diameters looked the same size as the fzr600r headers that I had, I measured them and they were the same so thought I would try. Fitted no problems, the down pipes touch the sump a bit and the can mounting hole is about 1cm out but no big deal to sort. Will hopefully have it on the dyno in the next week to check it is ok with these pipes, if not I will put on the 600r pipes and bend the m.
