Quick response to jashdwn on Rosso 2s.
Here in the uk they don't work we'll in low temps or wet conditions. Had numerous slides on mine. Above 15 c fantastic, but so are bt090's.
I won't buy them again.

Not specifically related to NCs, but this afternoon I was at Poole Quay, and there was a Kwak Z (the modern type) with Maxxis tyres on it. They had a reasonably normal if somewhat sparse tread pattern all over the tyre, but the outer third of both sides had a peculiar textured surface to it that I've never seen before. Not rolled rubber where the rider had fried it, but moulded in. It wasn't as deep as the main tread pattern, so I'm a bit confused at to what it is for? Presumably to give the edges plenty of water shifting capacity, but why mould them shallower than the main tread pattern that exnteded into the textured area anyway? Surely it'll wear off before the tyre is finished, and you'll lose any advantage?

I've just been goggling tyres as I need a set for the 30 and noticed Bridgestone are now doing a 150/60 18 Battlax BT014.

Anyone have any experience with them as an all-rounder tyre?

Currently got 090's on but they soon square off with motorway or winter riding so fancy a change.

Hi, i have an 014 front, while it grips ok, the steering is horrible vauge and heavy. But maybe worth a try for the back, maybe with a 016 front if there is one?
Cheers
Ian

Might be worth a try on the back and something more sport on the front as you say. Gonna call at the local tyre fitters later and see what prices and options they give me.

BT014 are an old tyre - they were replaced by 015, 016 and 016 pro.... So, whatever you are buying will likely be 4 or 5 yrs old, be designed for a bigger bike and would ont fill me with confidence.

a BT92 for the rear on your commuting wheel and a BT090 on your front and weekend rear wheel = winning.

What pressure should front and rear Dunlop Ridden GPR80's be on the RVF400 NC35?

you'll be looking at 33 psi or close to - it is a good place to start from anyways.

Thanks, while filling up the tyres I found water seeping out from the tyres around the rim and treads. Is this normal, also it looks like the tyres have some torn rubber. I might replace these Ridden GPR80's with Perelli Sport Demons. Just got this RVF and the unknown tyres make me hesistant, esp after reading that they are commuting and rather hard tyres. I prefer softer sportier tyres. The treads are still good on these.

Although not a pure sports tyre, I know peeps that have done track days on the gpr80, in warm weather they were fine. They're a pretty good all round tyre for the road, more grip and better profile than bt092's in my opinion.

The pirelli sport demons are also a good all-rounder, but certainly not a pure sports tyre!

If you want something grippy get a road tyre that's suited to using on the track, all of the major brands have them to fit the rvf.
