by the way I was looking in the box itcame in and it had loads of cool and random japanese newspaper sheets in it!! that is proper cool!!! :geek:

Well its the early hours of the day and things are quiet here at work.

The bike is back home in my Garage, so I have nothing much to do but look around on the net and make lists of things I need to do to my Bike - I've come up with this little lot!

1. Fit front downpipes from the exhaust properly, (with new gaskets) and get system all lined up correctly so the sidestand fits.

2. Remove standard Rad overflow bottle and Fit HRC one.

3. Fit fuel pump in place of standard rad overflow bottle - wire into live feed.

4. Clean up RVF carbs, fit bigger jets (144 front +148 rear?) and fit to bike.

5. Fit Ram Air box - find out about Breather pipes at the back (the two larger 'finger thickness' ones) and where they go.

6. HRC mod the fuel tap to allow for fuel to be sucked through by the pump. Anyone know what happens to the vacuum pipe? is it just blocked up or left 'open'?

7. Get a quick disconnect/ dry break for the fuel tank - I have a feeling it may be on and off alot!

8. Sort out the dash wiring as its all over the place at the minute!

9. Dyno to set up tacho and speedo.

10. it will be summer by this time so go and ride the thing!!!!!!!

Sound like a plan?

Also while all this is going on I have another set of genuine plastics which I have decided to do in a Suzuka rep stylee of the H.A.R.T Horipro bike. These will be off with my mate who is doing all the prep and paint on them.
Hopefully it'll look good and different. :grin:

Just a quick one mate, your need to have the carbs modded for ram air for use with the pump and airbox, just fitting bigger jets wont do.

I have pics of where all the pipework goes on the outside but as for the internals i cant help you there, someone here will know.

Oh Damn it :x

I thought it was as simple as bigger jets. So does anyone know whats involved with modding the carbs - Or should I get in touch with Dynopro etc?!

I had a look at the RVF carbs I have again tonight and found them set up quite wierdly - 112 jets in the fronts and 110's in the rears. They came from a forum member who said that they ran great!

I always thought that the bigger jets tend to go in the rear carbs as they either get warmer over the engine or have some sort of need due to exhaust routing?

I'm just wondering now if the ram air is going to be worth all the effor?

Should I just fit the RVF carbs with normal airbox and jets to suit the twin stack system?
Or go with VFR carbs, Ram Air, fuel pump - the whole lot?
Or RVF Carbs, ram air, etc

The rest of the bike has been modded a fair bit - but not too much engine work - just the GSXR flywheel and rotor conversion, a Rick O programmable CDI, and uprated rads and hoses.

The bike is used about 50/50 on road and trackdays.

Anyone have any reccommendations?

fit the rvf carbs and leave the ram air for now.

my nc30 with rvf carbs runs 115's all round which i think might be on the rich side and i've a twin stack and stock filter and air box.

I think thats my easiest and simple option which I'm leaning towards!

Just simple to get some new jets and pop them in, maybe HRC style springs too ;)

kav, a mate of mine had HRc springs in his and he found it had an annoying blip coming off idle if he was to rev it.

Kev, FWIW mate i removed the ram air setup on my RVF as it will now be my road bike. Ive no doubt you could probably make the ram air setup useable for the road or maybe even add a filter of some sort but i reckon it'll be hassle.

Ive now got a set of 30 carbs running RO needles, drilled slides and 122 DJ mains with TYGA carbon box and K&N filter, i also have a set of 35 carbs to try running HRC short stacks, 116 DJ mains, HRC slide springs and 1mm washer. Im probably gunna end up letting dynopro fettle it to get it running spot on but these setups were all on ricks advice so i dont think i'll be far out.

Got a new cdi on the way aswell to make use of the TPS sensor and 3D mapping, probably not worth the expense but nether the less i have to try it.

Right I now have a few Ideas of where I should head with this - and I don't think it is Ram-air (atleast for the moment)
Well set up RVF carbs with the twin stack system should be fine for me!

After a bit more looking into the RVF carbs I have - it seems they have been fiddled with in the past a little.

I checked the needles - J8VA on all of them.
They also have 2 x 0.5mm washers under each one.

under one of the diaphrams there was a chunk of green plastic too! I'm surprised they worked properly at all!
