Compare the '23 and '30? I rode the '30 230ish KM home when I bought it, some on motorways, some on twisty little back roads as the M11 was shut at Bishop Stortford.

The NC30 is tiny, and the '23 isn't much bigger, but tbh they both fit me just fine. The VFR has a much longer first gear, I found myself changing up far too early (especially as it was a new bike and I hadn't quite gotten used to the engine noise) The VFR definately feels faster, but whether thats because it reads in KM I don't know.

The VFR has a reputation for awesome handling, and this is well earned. I can touch the hero blob on the CBR just fine, and have a less than 1cm chicken strip on the left hand side, but the VFR seems to just tip in and scrape a peg at will due to the lack of hero blobs (and it was on bt92s not 090s like the cbr) The brakes are epic, I found I can stand the VFR on it's nose if I brake a bit too hard, whereas the CBR with it's 2 pot sliding calipers are very progressive but lack the same full on stopping power.

Maintainance I can't comment on yet, but the VFR seems to be a bit more awkward to do simple jobs on, like the oil filter and spark plugs. Also the need to take the whole seat unit off to get to the battery is a pain, but a heavy handed previous owner and some velcro have fixed it just fine.

Fuel economy and dayto day living are things I haven't been able to comment on due to only riding the VFR properly once, but they're looking fairly equal, although on cold mornings the CBR is easily the better starter, the VFR needs the choke for several minutes, where as the CBR only needs the throttle held open for 5-10 seconds before it settles into a steady idle, even in the snowy weather of last december.

Not sure in all honesty mate, would need to try living with the '30 for a bit (been on the '23 since april this year) but can definately tell you it's close! I'm a bit short (around 5'7ish) and the '30 seems to fit me perfectly as a full on sports bike, whereas the '23 is quite suited to longer distance riding.

As for this bike, got something else for it :D

Been told on another forum that the NC35 front end isn't a simple bolt up job, I know it needs a spacer (which may or may not be available with the rest of the front end) but apparently the bearings aren't right. Can anyone tell me exactly what parts I need to fit the RVF fron end to an NC30 chassis (bearings etc) please?

Cheers, trying to keep things up to date and interesting, despite a lack of money atm it's a bit slow now, but I have a load of bits to do when money perks up a bit.

Last I read the conversion kits were £80, which right now I don't have, Simon is looking in his garage for me to see if he has the spacer, if not I'll save up for the RO bit (although would prefer to do things like the spacer myself as I have a favour owed by someone who could make it for me)

Tiny update, got a tool kit off ebay for under £20 :) it's for an NC24, so I'm guessing I need the plug spanner for the NC30, but aside from that it's the same?

Starting to get everything ready, have a reflector on the way to stick to the numberplate as a temporary thing.

Cleaned loads of the NC35 stuff, used a bit of 1200 wet and dry to polish up the insides of the yokes and bars so they don't leave marks on the forks when they go on :)

The carbon can is at the post office, but due to a cock up somewhere theres apparently no postage been paid on it, so I'm left with £5.41 to pay on top of the £9 I already paid

Still no can, no reply from the seller about the problem, if it gets to friday (nearly a fortnight since winning the auction) I'll file a dispute saying that I haven't received it and get my money back. I have however borrowed an identical one from a mate to see what it'll look like

getting ready to start the usd conversion, just need a mudguard, some brake lines and banjo bolts and it should be ready :)
