Re: NC 24....about to start project (EDIT..new pics)
We've just sent the tank off to be powder coated. I took off the fuel tap, breather and lock set etc. We ended up using Metaplas in edinburgh. They are charging £50 + VAT for both the tank and the front sub frame from my cbr. I thought this was a pretty good deal. They did the powder coating on the parts that were already done on the project when we bought it so we know they can do a good job. They reckon it'll be about 10 days till it's done as their quite busy. I'll get some pictures up when we get it back though.

How come you did the forks and cushdrive black? The original gold is quite nice?

The forks were already powder coated when we got the bike in bits. The cush drive was already painted badly in black so we thought it would be easier to keep it black and repaint over it. Also thought it might look nice as a contrast against the gold wheels.

Re: NC 24....about to start project (EDIT..new pics)
A quick update again. We fitted the front wheel bearings, cleaned up the spindle and got the discs mounted too. We'll be taking the wheels to get tyres fitted and balanced soon, so thought we'd mount the wheel loosely to check everything fits ok.
It didn't take too long to fit. I'm really liking the black and gold contrast too. Definitely making progress now.

Re: NC 24....project (EDIT..new pics)
had an idea for a paint scheme.

somewhat inspired by the norton black and gold schemes. Not sure if it will end up like this or not. Looks cool though i think (the template was from an nc30)

Re: NC 24....project (EDIT..new pics)
Do you know those arn't the correct brake discs?
There non-floating discs. The NC24 came with floating discs originally.

Notice that the outer part of the disc is on movable rivets to the inner disc which is aluminum (less rotating weight)

Yours are the fixed style.
I like the gold wheels, there a throwback to old Honda.. but you need Comstar wheels for that.. and a turbo charger

Re: NC 24....project (EDIT..new pics)
thanks for the response. Yeah we know that they're not the original discs. The project came with those ones plus a set of the original "floating" disc style. The originals need to be cleaned up, masked and painted so will take a bit of time to get ready. The plan is to do them at a later date along with a couple of other non-essential jobs.

Re: NC 24....project (EDIT..new pics)
hi
Thanks for spotting that. We hadn't got round to fitting the brakes yet so were just working out how the front wheel fits together. (had to remove a lot of powder coat on the inside of the fork bottoms, where the spindle passes through.)
I'll be sure to turn it round before we fit the wheel properly :)
cheers
