his name is Colin Judd and he works for Rawles Motorsport and did all the paint work on my dads healey 3000 (pictured earlier in the thread), I worked there 2 summers ago and so its a bit of mates rates, he lives in basingstoke and does alot of work at home on bikes inparticular, his hourly rate at work is £50/hour but he does his private work alot cheeper, he did all the bodywork on my tzr, all a metalic silver with some fillering required for £150 including paint, he said that was about 8 hours work,

the reason the vfr will be alot more is because there are dents in the tank and he needs 2 get 4 different paints

might be worth doing some detailed before and after images, esp of the damage and then gives him a bit more credability??

ok will do, il post some pic's on the 50 he painted and the healey is pictured earlier on in the thread, anyways im in turkey now for a week so im if off to the pool!!!!

sold the 50!!! so i have another £1200 to play with, mind i have to pay for incurance and mot and tax

pannels come back tomorrow and il order the graphic's on monday,

iv sprayed the top yoke and fairing stay now, the screen, seat cowl (at painters), indicators (will go to painters tomorrow) and mirrors have turned up and i should be re-fitting everything on monday with an mot and the restrictor kit fitting on tuesday, ready for alton on wednesday night and a trip to brooklands on sunday (classic bike meeting) and then il be riding to odiham to help smev out with a bit of marshaling for their track day.

so stay tuned as juicy pic's will be posted soon

o the HRC rearsets have been posted but i probably wont fit them until i have a set of braided brake lines too, then that will be a nice weekend project.

pannels are back! and it looks amazing, dream machines eat your heart out lol, ok so its not perfect but thats because i slightly rushed the painter but he has said if i bring it back once iv ridden it a bit and leave it with him for a weekend he will give it a full going over but for £250 including doing the seat cowl, indicators and recovering the seat in black vinyl you cant complain

Il get some piccies up asap but the computer has blown up again and my laptop wint load pic's

im not sure whether i shoulddo the hislpop rep as i think the standard scheme would look nicer and more standard, an i think im going to go down the same root as guess who by making a seeminly standard bike with subtle and 'correct' modifications and trinkets.

what are your views?

fraid it dosent look like il make it this wednesday mate, need to get MOT'D taxed incurance and restrictors fitted and my local garage quoted me 5 hours to do it even though there a certified restrictor kit fitter and FI international say it take 1.5 hours max :o

shud get it done by friday though out for a busy weekend, run up to brooklands for a historic bike meeting and then up to your neck of the woods for a spot of marshaling for you, see you then mate

Take it to another garage, it doesn't sound as if your local one knows what they're doing.

when i phoned up FI international (the people who make the restrictor kits) they said 'ALAN LEAR' was the nearest certified fitters, and i need it fitted by them because they have to sign the forms to verify that a kit is fitted correctly

just fit it yourself .. the certificate is meaningless, its up to the police or whoever to prove it isnt restricted, not the other way round .. besides .. there's nothing to stop you taking the washers out once fitted and keeping the certificate .. again rendering it meaningless.

as long as the bike IS restricted, you are 100% legal.

done in a day, and save yourself some wedge too.

EDIT : if you really want a bit of paper .. fit the kit yourself, and get the bike run up on a dyno .. £25, and documentary proof of only 33bhp output.
