Paul im pretty sure i have some original caliper bolts if you want them

Ali, yes it was the disks were off something totaly different. no idea and sure enough one had more of an offset, apart from that same diameter bolt hole size etc etc.
And cheers i think i just found a pair of bolts which will do just nice in a bag of 600RR old bolts.

Front end it all bolted up and tightened, just need to bleed the brakes up and thats the front end done.
rear end needs tightening, its all loose in the axle. get a new 525 chain and link and fit, then its just about ready for a quick blat up and down the road before i double check it all and take for test.
everything electicaly works perfectly but rectifier was red hot v quickly and voltage fluctuated so i do need a rectifier mate pls to save turning the battery to scrap

Well a bit of an update.
did a bit last week and got a bit down over it tbh. cold hands skinned knuckles, you know the score. the thing ran but only just and was a bit smoky and kept cutting out.
anyway a strip of the carbs, refit, set airscrews, and discover the front coils goosed (kept fouling the front left) and try again,
well not only does it start with ease, its settles to a nice tickover and not a puff of smoke or anything. so i am pretty happy now the engines good to go.
today i will be fitting chain, and scotoiler, then putting the tail unit on and bolting it down (tempting fate)
sort the indicators on the front and i reckon we are good for MOT.

yeah your right martin. fitted the new chain and fitted the rear wheel, just took the dipstick out and it was full !!
dont worry its doubled its value now as there was 6 litres of petrol just come out of the sump.

Well that old oil needed thinning anyway. Sticky floats and a wanky fuel tap then I guess. Don't worry, Elf is on the telly at 5.45 tonight so make a cuppa and forget about it until next Sunday

wise up mate ....i'd much rather be stuck in the garage ,oil and petrol mix up to the elbows fixing my soon to be pride and joy with a cold cuppa in one hand and a half eating jaffa in the other than sit in the house watching some xmas drivel on the box .....
