Fair enough ersan, that just leaves one explanation that the bike was not running because of your shoddy workmanship.

by all means prove me wrong, but your mechanic was able to do something in half a day that you clouldn't do in months.

And however the water got into your carbs, it happened after you took them off the bike not when you were on holiday.

no.. the bike was working before the holidays on idle. each time i revved the engine it would cut out while sounding like its drowning with fuel or some sort of fluid, i.e water!. so i left the bike like that. i came back check the oil and petrol/oil came squirting out of the sump. took the carb off, rear left cylinder had fuel all the way to the top. it was a clear see through colour im guessing thats petrol with water mixed. as you can see in the picture below. plus it didnt even smell too heavy, so it must of been diluted with water.

i agree im not a mechanic, or anywere near as experienced as you, but i know what ive done and what ive not done. and i know for a fact the carb didnt get water in it because i left it outside.

like many have said im only 19 and this is my first biggish bike. and my first ever attempt to work on a bike in this depth!, how many people do you know who started working with complex v4 engines for their first? im guessing not many?, and im sure your first bike which you took apart was probably a pocket bike or some sort? correct me if im wrong, i know that it was a big mistake to work on a big bike for my first i admit that, especially a v4. which already makes things harder than an inline 4.

Me for one. I had absolutely no clue so I asked dumb questions on here and got advice from people who've been riding since before I was born.
No-one on here will slate you for being a novice, but the problem is that you often don't listen to the sound advice that you're given.

I just asked when I was unsure and took on board the advice of the knowledgeable folk on here.

Granted my bike probably didn't have as many problems as yours (I haven't read the whole of the 100 odd page thread) but I didn't attempt to fix anything unless I was sure what I was doing was right.

Oh and by the way, stop fighting with the guys on here, it'll get you nowhere, even if they have the patience of saints.
