Because they'll go into an oven to cure, glassfibre will expand and contract at a different rate to Carbon, so you use the same material for the mould.

Probably

I used Carbon because this is a box section and it is still early in the year so it could still get cold over night. I used odds and scraps.. But when you make a mould that may need to be put in the oven overnight to cure the glass mould expands as it heats up and then the carbon cures in this now expanded mould. If the heater cannot keep it warm enough the glass contracts and contracts more than the now cured carbon. This causes two problems. One is the part locking into the mould the second is the 1mm thick carbon part will actually crack the surface of the mould and kill it.... It is about keeping things consistant and ensuring you do not damage the mould. One £200 carbon mould is worth more than making 2 or 3 £40 glass ones when you think about the time you lose making new moulds and time lost making parts you can actually sell......

Its OK..... I call it an oven it is just a wheelie bin on its side with a 3kw heater keeping parts toasty warm as it cures and overnight.... But as it is on the low power setting if the temp drops subzero it is pulling cold air in to the heater and may not be hot enough to pull keep the temp constant.... I ruined 3 moulds with the cold snap.... So trying to avoid that happening again....

Why not wrap the bin in loft insulation - it's cheap and effective
