Re: FZR 400 Front Brakes Severely Binding?
back to the drawing board
the small seals/dust seals(27mm) fit a treat
but the TJs large pistons are 34 mm not 30mm
so i can't see how the part numbers were the same for both the fzr400rr3tj kits and the fazer 600/1000/TDM900 and R1 unless he was looking at an earlier model fzr400 does anyone know what size pistons they are for these?
so it's all in bit's until i speak with mr wemoto monday (as he's not in today) and see if he can come up with a set of 34mm seals

Re: FZR 400 Front Brakes Severely Binding?
phoned Mr wemoto yesterday and they sent out a set of 34mm seals and i got em today, result
look like they'll do the trick, nice and snug around the pistons
the listing has also been changed and now shows 27 and 34mm seals so you can order with confidence
gonna fit em tomorrow and hopefully that's the end of this rather blood pressure raising episode,
it's only taken a month but having said that if you talk to the right person at wemoto they'll bend over backwards to accommodate you
so it should be working just in time for the snow and ice
anyone know where i can get a set of nobblies for a 3tj

Re: FZR 400 Front Brakes Severely Binding?
finally may be getting somewhere
cleaned up the inside of the calipers today, and that wasn't easy they looked like they'd never seen a can of brake cleaner, the dremmel was involved to clean out the seal seats which were full of shit but they came up nice and the new seals fitted in just right, cleaned and polished the pistons then re-assembled the calipers and re-fitted them to the bike and spent about an hour bleeding them through and they seem pretty good although i haven't ridden it yet as the weather's so nice

haha yeah and it was terrible today the bloody sun was out, but i decided to brave the weather anywayMarkT wrote:Result! Your right it was to nice to go out today!!

the brakes were always good but recently (since i changed the pads) have had a tenancy to bind up slightly
as i discovered that was due to 2 sweeper seals turned over no themselves so the pistons wouldn't retract properly,
now that's sorted, no more binding and the brakes are awesome again with much more feel,
sorted
there is a good lesson to learn here when you replace the pads make sure the pistons are squeaky clean before you push em back in as i think it was the shit on the pistons that forced the dust seals over, and i had cleaned em but probably just not enough

So do I - the calipers are ready to go (on the bay) I just want the seals to sort them out.
