Well its been a long time as I've been really busy, however I got some carbs off pauliealdridge69. He very kindly set them up with 115/118 jets cleaned and balanced them. Stock needles no washers and sliders. Finally got round to fitting them and its still running really rich. Didn't bother putting it on the dyno as could sell the fuel!

I'm lost for ideas now. Wounder if the JHA exhaust is messing things up. Would have to drop the jets to 100 before it came close I reckon!!

You don't have any restictor washers in the inlet rubbers do you?

How's your air filter?

That's stock jetting so it shouldn't be over-rich.

How does it ride with these carbs on?

I can't see why it is so rich

Yer its really confusing me, got brand new air filter no restrictors all standard apart from the JHA exhaust. Changed the fuel tap as it wasn't shutting off, otherwise its all stock.

First time I ran it on a dyno which was off the scale. Put the graph in the first post. Since then it smells rich and the black smoke gives it away. Changed the sparks and they were black as you like. It made 54 ish bhp on the dyno so reckon its safe to say its firing on all four. I'm at a complete loss! Tempted to hand it over to the tuner and let him sort it but he didnt seem keen to work on the v4!

When I first set it up I stuck it on the rollers and the graph is on the first post, its was off the scale. Since then you can smell the fuel pumping out the exhaust what with the smoke and the the black spark plugs its safe to say its still rich. It made 54bhp on the rollers so from that is assume its firing on all cylinders.

must have checked the floats 4-5 times and they are spot on.

I'm totally at a loss with it.

id be checking compression on each cylinder mate. if its spitting neat fuel from the pipe its sucking too much in from somewhere or not burning it all off upon combustion. least thats my logic.

what plugs you using?

All this does seem a bit odd, 115/118 isnt rich and your exhaust wont make it worse. If your certain your carbs are setup right then something isnt right, how many miles has the motor done?
