If your battery was dead, that points to reg/rec failier. do you know how to test it? and do you have a multi meter?
No i doubt the snorkle would affect it backfiring like that. As the battery is dead, i woudl suspect it is related to that.
Honestly stick with it, once youhave it sorted, it will be the best thing you have ever ridden. ;)

It is frustrating but like others have said, try and do some of the things yourself.. you'll gain experience and knowledge and your balls will grow big as you say to yourself, and others 'Yeah...I fixed that myself'

i'm no expert but it sounds as though he changed the plugs and f*k all else so for a bit it run better due to new clean plugs but the original fault still wasn't addressed.

try and test the reg/rec like already mentioned so you can kind of point your mechanic in the right direction if it is or isnt the fault but still speak to him and see what he exactly done to your bike as the service you paid for isn't satisfactory.

OK Butler, I'm gonna come across as Mister Grumpy here but it's really not intended (I notice Marks kinda given up) The ONLY way we are going to get to the bottom of this is if you phone the Dyno Dunce and ask him what he's actually done as has been said previously. We need the graph's, jet sizes etc. to work out what's going on. I know it's something that can seem a bit intimidating when you don't know that much about mechanics but all you need is the info then we can do the working out for you.

It may well be that what the Dyno guy has done is bob on (although some of his advice is dubious to say the least and I kinda agree with Slowport and think the guys just had your bike for a day and a half and just changed the plugs) and it's your charging system that's causing the bike to run poorly but until you get the info it's just going to be all guess work on our part and that's no good to any one.

Get the info and we'll jump on it like a tramp after a quid ;)

@ Butler - PM me some details, I'll happily call this guy and see what he can say.

As I mentioned earlier, I'll be meeting another GB member in Donny next week - I'd gladly come and have a look at your bike and even bring my multimeter and check the reg rec.

Can't say fairer than that eh??

I agree - matey did fuck all to the bike, changed the plugs...took the snorkel off and wanted to chav it without a filter!! lol..

Awww i just writ a right long post, and thren it deleted and left that little part of it above, anyway...

i was just asking,, ive just changed my battery yesterday, as this was dead/damaged, might this effect my bikes starting up ???

or, is my bike not wanting to start up because it is not getting FUEL to the carbs ? is it starving?

I dont know what you call this part i'm about to describe*

(the part in-between the airfilter and carbs, where theres is plastic casing and just 4 holes (its above the Carbs, or is it still classed as the carbs, or air filter ??? anyway this is damp, a little, with fuel ??/ why is this ??? is this why my Plugs are oiling up ??? or is this why there isnt enough fuel getting to my bike ???

HI, i know obv a flat/empty battery, wont start up, just like a mobile phone, when its not got the battery cahrge it wont work, but do you mean it would effect like the power not getting to my Starter motor or somethign and working properly ???

and if i have flooded my plugs, is this because i have used the choke and tried starting the bike up to much, which obv wouldn't start because of low battery ?
what can i do now ?/ will the bike not start up because of the plugs ? or do i need to replace them or clean them ???
ill go start her up in a minute, thanks

Hi Butler,
If the battery is flat/low on charge, you may get the bike started, but it will struggle, and under load it will struggle even more or stop running completely.
It may be that you are flooding your bike all the time and that is why your plugs look like they are oily. Firstly i would take all teh plugs out and dry them gently with a blow torch or gas hob. Or ask the wife or your mum if you can use teh oven to dry them. Have you measured teh voltage on teh battery? "DO YOU HAVE A MULTI METER" do you have a haynes manual?
