understand that. What sort of wax did you use on the mandrel...or other film/wax stuff to prevent the object sticking on the mandrel?

It had about 8 coats of wax and then a coat of the blue pva so about as good as you can get, with the heat of the resin reaction and the hot air (100 deg to get full shrinkage on the tube) i hope the pipe expanded a little (wall thickness of ally is 3/8") and so due to the fact that the carbon has little expansion can get cooled and removed.
Between me and the guys at carbonmods (super helpfull) we recon its the way to go so i will find out tomorrow.

Cool and interesting knowledge. It should be right with that much layers of coat wax and blue pva.
I was thinking you were using vacuum bagging the sleeve on the mandrel. But only apply heat is another way.
Tommorow more info from you, that is ok. ;)

LOL- i was going to use the bags as ive got them for my gixer panels but the more i looked at the can the more i realised it had to done different, having used the shrink before i thought it would work and took a piece up to carbonmods, the guy said if the resin dont stick to it you can use it, give it a go! it looks very nice.

Hi mate, sorry for not getting back to you, i was just going to pm Tony about these as ive got to return his stacks. Ive been real busy with the suzi and building a new work shop to do some proper stuff in, working in the kitchen.
Ive done three but everyone has a slight imperfection due to the shrink tube coming flat, this when its opened up then shrunk down over the kevlar gives the odd small bump. i would quite happily fit one on a race bike and will use them on my gsxr4 but to sell on as you can guess people want perfect parts.
Im off work next week so was going to give it another try and im getting closer with each one.
Chris.

Sorry to drag this back up, after my accident in October, I've been left with a smashed TSR can, and need a new sleeve. Is there still a chance this could go ahead? I'd be after 2 sleeves for the SP1 style system

Good to see there is still demand for these Kevlar sleeves...I still need 2 sleeves extra.
So there is:

BillingCBR: 2
Deviant400: 2
micpec: 2 (maybe 4)
and maybe Kris (Ibby4585): for 2 (maybe 4)

Who else? And Chris (variablevalves suck) ... can you still make these Kevlar sleeves to the TSR sleeve specs?

@Tony, does carbonmods still offer these 6M of sleeves in carbon/kevlar spec'd to 99mm outer diameter, 0.8 thickness, 400mm long = 15 sleeves?

Maybe we need more interested lads for this bulk order...? I consider up to total of 4 sleeves then. Who else?
