Re: xivlia's thread of nc30 problems and questions
Step 1
Disconnect the plug with 3 yellow wires that connects to the reg/rec loom.
Call one wire A, one B and one C.
Put a probe on the following
A and B: 0.7 ohms
B and C: 0.7 ohms
A and C: 0.7 ohms
Step 2
With the plug still disconnected set the multimeter to AC volts, 200 (lowest setting) should be fine.
Make sure battery is fully charged and start the engine (have the lights off)
A and B: 22 v AC
B and C: 22 v AC
A and C: 22 v AC
Turn the engine off and reconnect the plug.
Step 3
Providing your regulator is wired up properly you can measure the voltage it is giving out at the battery.
Put the multimeter to DC volts, 20 will do.
Connect the -ve to the battery -ve and the +ve to the battery positive.
Measure the battery voltage with the engine turned off 12.80 v DC
Measure the battery voltage with the engine idling 12.60 v DC
Measure the battery voltage with the engine at 5000rpm 12.40 v DC
Measure the battery voltage with the engine idling and lights on 12.01 v
Measure the battery voltage with the engine at 5000rpm and lights on 11.80 v
the battery was fully charged over night....although it took some time to get the bike running....the started relay was getting jammed for some reason. so the volts dropped by the time i got it running...

Hmm.
Can you repeat it at 5000rpm if soo.
Was this at idle?Step 2

A and B: __________
B and C: __________
A and C: ___________
Turn the engine off and reconnect the plug.
I'm sorry but I forgot to mention.. this should be at 5000rpm.

Re: xivlia's thread of nc30 problems and questions
yeah that was at idle.... let me try that again on 5k rpm.
okay soo at 5000rpm im getting...
A and B: 47.5 v
B and C: 47.8 v
A and C: 47.5 v
okay soo at 5000rpm im getting...
A and B: 47.5 v
B and C: 47.8 v
A and C: 47.5 v

Reg rec isn't doing anything though.
The yelllow plug is properly connected into the reg/rec isn't it? And the reg/rec is properly connected up? None of the wires from it have broken off or become disconnected? Is the plug into the reg / rec properly inserted and secure?
The only thing I can think is that you mentioned you shorted it out when you were trying to test it with the multimeter and blew the main fuse.. this could have killed the reg/rec.

Re: xivlia's thread of nc30 problems and questions
yes ive checked everything, all the wires to the reg/rec and its all securely fitted in. yes it shorted out one time...i guess that would of killed the reg/rec.... once my new reg/rec arrives i will test and report here and say weather its fixed or not.

FFS bite the bullet and get hold of a used 5-pin (1998-2005) R6 unit.

You'll need to cut off your existing connector and solder female spade plugs onto the wires.
I filed a small amount of heatsink material off the reg so it mounted flush on the subframe, fasten it using just one bolt (lock nut on the back if you must).
Done!
