Ran the NC30 out today trying to take advantage of some dry roads, mild temperatures and even a little bit of sun. I got a bit wet on the way home as I came back into Newcastle but thankfully I was out of the twisty fun by then. The bike has performed faultlessly and I throughly enjoyed riding today - I can't believe it's December!
It needs a wash as it's a little grubby now but I'll take it to work tonight and give it a wash tomorrow.

Finally started putting bits back on.. took a bit of lining up but like the look of the pipe :-)

Thanks, lot of effort went into getting the bits! Just going to have to be patient to find out how it sounds, lot to do yet..

Fixed the hi-lo beam switch on the NC35.
It was jamming either in or out...
Took the switch gear apart, took the switch out - and pulled the switch to pieces. The grease inside it had set solid
Clean the grease out with WD40...regrease...reassemble...and TA-DA!

I put a new seat on the NC30 after finding a decent one cheap at DK. Mine was tatty and held together with tape so now it's gone, it was pretty much the last manky looking thing on the bike.

Collected the repaired & repainted tank for the RVF and attempted to fit it. Filler cap and fuel tap no problem but trying to push those rubber pipes into place and slide on their clips, while working in less than 2" of space is a bugger. The Japs obviously employ small children to do the job.
Pushed the bike out of the garage, sloshed (carefully..don't want to mess up the new paint) some fuel into the tank, choke on, pressed the button, starter does it's thing and hey presto!..nothing. Repeat. Choke off/on. Repeat. Check kill switch. Repeat. Try tap on reserve. Repeat. Hmm? Resort to Mr Haynes and grainy B&W photos. Long(er) story short, the vacuum pipe had got itself hidden away (little tinker). Once connected the bike spluttered then started. First time since the battered tank came off 8 weeks ago.
Let it warm up then a short ride up the road (not strictly legal as there's no bodywork on it) and round a carpark to check the gears. Engine's fine but some excessive vibration from the back in 2nd at low revs which seemed to smooth out as revs increased. Would a loose chain do that? Special chain-adjusting spanner now on order.
Next step, bodywork. Chinese? No way. Tyga? Very likely. It's nice to have the RVF running again.

Been busy. Fitted taper head bearings. Fitted low beam relay & UK bulbs. Stripped rebuilt gear selector box (not shifting too well going up the box, couldn't find anything wrong
). Rebuit carbs, litetek seals, needles shimmed, slides drilled, rejetted. Fitted the whole lot. Modified the airbox base panel (not sure if it'll do much but read somewhere it was worth a go):
Put everything back together. Modified the fuel tap to get rid of the Vac side of it. Got 3 more inlet Vac take off tubes and the blanking rubbers from Dave Silver so now I've got Vac take off pipes to connect the guages to (makes carb balancing a bit easier. Balanced the carbs. Flung it all back together and took it for a blast :-)
Rode it for twenty minutes, cleaned it for 45
