Re: Spacers for after market fairing rear section
This is a very interesting thread. I've been keeping an eye on 3D printing for a number of years as I've seen it has great potential. Having said that I've never gotten too close as I've had other things on the go.
One of the things that strikes me is that you seem reliant on your own (or other people's) measurements and drawing skills when duplicating objects. Are there such things as 3D scanners to help you along the way?

When you do get the time, definitely check it out. I remember a couple of years ago, 3D printing machines were really expensive. Then I read a thread over at BikeChatForum and discovered the 3D printing community, its been great.
In terms of making stuff, there are files you can download and print yourself. For example, all the things I have designed are uploaded onto http://www.thingiverse.com/ for people to download / remix / print. But sometimes when you have to design the piece yourself. There are plenty of opensource CAD software available, and lots of great youtube toturials.
Yes, there are 3D scanners, I saw a 3D scanner kit review on youtube the other day. But they tend to need be pretty small, and the object sits in the middle of a rotating table for the camera to spin around it. I have seen other handheld versions, but they are not cheap (£100+)

Looks pretty good! The chamfer is nice. They seem a little long on your bike. Does the front of the spacer stick out from the recess or is it just the pic?

Also, do you think 4mm thickness is good? Or does it seem to stick out too much?

Re: Spacers for after market fairing rear section
I am not sure about whether its my after market fairing that makes it looks too long, or the its the way I have bolted it on. It can definitely sit a bit further back.
4mm is pretty good, but I think it depends on how long the stem of your indicators are, because you probably don't want it to stick out too much.
