For $18 I purchased a tungsten drill bit for my dremel that stated it was for cutting hardened steel.....

30mins of dremel power later and the broken ezy out is a distant memory!!!

I'm back in business people!

Yeah. That's why I don't use ezy outs - only time I tried I did the same thing and then had to drill that out. :-p vice grips, pray, drill if need be, you'll get it out.

Dropped a nut when I was bolting the rear subframe back on (had removed it to tap the tyre hugger mount).

You know how annoying it is to drop a 10mm nut into the centre of the engine??? Trying to find it under the starter motor, coils etc...

Everything happens for a reason they say. While I was lying on my back with a torch under the bike looking for that nut....I discovered a nut missing on the main exhaust mount! I also discovered the bike has had an oil leak at the rear of the engine for some time.

Oh well. Good to find these things now I suppose?

I never did find that 10mm nut??!!

After much fettling and drilling I managed to get the Chinese fairings fitted nicely......added fresh fuel to the bike and went to take it for a test ride.......what??....no clutch??!!!

Adjusted the clutch all the way and still no clutch??? A friend of mine had previously removed the clutch basket to inspect the gear selector...so now I'm thinking A) the clutch has always been toast or B) that friend hasn't put the clutch plates in correctly???

I've removed the fairings again and will drain the oil and remove the clutch basket for inspection. Worst case scenario I will swap the clutch basket over from my spare engine just so I can get this bike going asap.

Bike won't start now either.....I've never had the carbs off, so I'm thinking today might be a good day to do so. No doubt I have fouled the plugs and will need to replace those as well.

Will keep you posted....

Fitted one of theirs to my nc29. What a difference I hadn't realised the clutch was slipping that much. Did you get a new clutch nut as well

Yeah clutch nut, gasket....may as well do it once and do it right!! Haven't replaced a clutch before so fingers crossed I don't botch it.
