Nah I just bought new ones a few years ago as mine had yellowed with age, good idea getting some aluminium ones made up if you have access to a cnc machine

Re: Smurf Blue NC29 in NZ
Ok, so a mile-stone was reached today (well I think so anyway)....
FINALLY got my bike into a 'roller' tonight! I think the 'Lucid Orange' rims look pretty slick, especially with those beautiful Michelin tires. I'm happy with the progress today and now I really feel like I am back on schedule to have this bike back on the road in a few months.

Please excuse the messy garage!!! Life is one big blur at the moment.....

Accidentally bought an NC23 a few days ago. oops! Now I've got 2 x CBRs' to sort out.
Engine cleaning has actually begun finally.......a can of degreaser and some wire brushing later.....
Before:

After:

Originally I told myself that I'd just give the engine a quick clean but I just don't know when to stop!! I plan on wire brushing as much dirt and grime off as I can and then using some metal polish to finish it off. We'll see how it goes....

Re: Smurf Blue NC29 in NZ

So this NC23 has had a pretty fair old frontal impact and the forks are twisted beyond repair. The headlights are bent and some of the fairing mounts as well but this bike has all the trimmings and in-fills that are usually missing. Came with a decent tool kit as well under the pillion seat. Someone loved this bike once upon a time and looked after it. The wear on the tires shows that the previous owner had some big kahunas!!
Battery is dead. Right foot peg has been ripped off. Throttle cables are broken. The biggest issue I've found though is that the bike won't find neutral???

Nah mate I didn't buy that $400 one in Wgtn. Looked a bit too far gone to be honest. Was tempted though!Icemaestro wrote:That was the 400$ one on trademe eh? I've never owned an NC23 so will be interesting to see how this build goes? I initially thought the differences would be insignificant BUT after removing the fairings and seeing where the coils sit on this bike the differences are very significant!

Hmmm the graphics are NC29 but the fairings are still attached with the usual brackets of the 23 so not sure really?? Maybe just chinese replicas?cbr400rrn wrote:Nc 23 engine but nc29 bodywork. Intrigued as to what's been done to it, do tell
