i dropped my front from 120/70 to a 120/60 at start of summer, has made a massive difference in corner with a feeling of the front going into corner more smoothly, don't know if this would benefit on a track bike but something to think about?

Took my wheels down to a local tyre place, had been quoted £25 by my usual guy whos a fair distance away to remove and fit/balance the part worns. The young lad did the biz then said "Oh just give me a fiver for a drink!" So planted a tenner in his hand and said id be back soon with my other wheels and wets
So next job is the forks, just an oil change for the minute.
Ive booked a trackday at Donington in July so really need to get my finger out now

I use dunlop slicks, and use the superbike front 125/80 or whatever it is.

It gives quite a large outer diameter so you have to jack up the back to compensate. It gives the bike quite a strange feeling at slow speeds. But once you get the red mist on, it goes from upright to full lean quickly and gives great confidence in trail braking up to the apex. I've yet to find the limit of the front (but I will!).

On the rear I use the standard size.

Out of curiosity, anyone got experience fitting a 5 inch rim to the rear? Is there a rim that goes straight in, or do you have to machine them all? (I have a CBR600 rim that would require the rim and sprocket carrier machined to fit - just wondering if there is an easier way). The 5 inch rim is going to go on my project bike when I finally get a donor bike, not my racer as we aren't allowed to change rims.

Had a spare hour this afternoon so didnt want to do anything too involving, so i fitted the front fairings. Almost looks like a bike now!

Well shes 90% there now, had to change the rear subframe as the one that was on it doesnt accept a standard single seat cowl. So fitted a standard one that i cut down to suit. Dropped on the single seat unit (cheers Billy ) and popped the seat back on. Heres a couple of pics off the bike now.







So just a few jobs left now

Fit crash bungs
change fork oil
check all nuts and bolts yet again with the torque wrench
bleed brakes
erm and probably a few other bits and bobs.

chris, is that a standard screen brace or is that one you've made??
also what have you used to blank off the mirror holes?

The screen brace is a home made jobbie, not by me though! Its like one of those rod rests you used to make in metalwork, not brill but does the job. The holes are coverd by some mirror blanking plates i bought off Riley on here a while back, complete with HRC engraved into them.

oh wicked, thought it looked looked home made.
ive got a average at best condition one lying around if you need it cheap??
they look good. im thinking of making some for when (if) i can get on a trackday.

slight rust and its not 100% true???
and im only 17 on a supposed restricted bike, and i live down south on the coast near brighton, so closest track is brands but you got to be off the 33bhp license first, so got to organise a trip north to sumwhere like cadwell or odiham.
