Making progress man! Can I ask how you've found the nitron shock? I'm thinking of getting the same one without the remote reservoir that's all.

Re: Kieran's rolling restoration.
Bought it off a member on here had never been fitted to a bike, had to wait a while for one to come up at the right price though! This one doesnt have the remote res either it would be nice to have a really fancy shock on here but for me the diffrence it makes isnt worth the money. Nitron do sell them without the res but it isnt cheap 350 if remember correctly.

Re: Kieran's rolling restoration.
Done a little work on the bike, wiring loom completly removed and a few other bits taken off just waiting on a castle nut socket to get the engine and swingarm removed to give the heads a going over and grease all the linkages up.
Few pics:

This was covered in a layer of crap which i was going to just get painted till i cleaned it and it looks mint now!

Before

After, used some of that Sonax plastic restorer which works pretty well.

Quite pleased with how the undertray came out too, looks smart compared to how it was before
Now for something a bit more exciting, for anyone whos been following the thread you will know ive been after a twinstack well ive struggled to persuade anyone to part with one and then i got chatting to somebody who was selling something rather special.
Took delivery of it this morning.

Lovely JHA full SP-1 style system, bit dirty but a should clean up nice a small mark on the L/H can but other than that im happy with it. All brackets collars and springs included so just needs a good going over with the Peek.
Not exactly sure how rare these are but ive searched a few old posts and i can only count 5 JHA systems including this one on the forum
Hopefully going to look pretty smart fitted with the RC30 style seat unit, still debating white or gold wheels though. Thats it for today if anybody has one of these systems and has any advice on setup with VFR carbs id like to keep the induction standard, also any BHP figures would be brilliant.

Re: Kieran's rolling restoration.
Thanks mate, i was looking at Marcus's TSR but id rather have a full system over Ti and those TSR sp1 systems are common as muck
The bike is going to be painted in the type one scheme first off with F3 style tail colours, the type one is pretty much the same as the TT-F3 colours so i may get a set of decals to go on and put them on top of the laquer.
Not sure it would look right without the diffrent tank so thats why im not 100% on the racerep or gold wheels yet, still got a good few months to decide though.

Re: Kieran's rolling restoration.
You know that Tony Scott motor of yours... it is no good for you! It'll just use heaps of fuel and just wear your tyres down quicker with that extra power. Spose I could swap it for my nice economical standard motor if you twist my arm...Drunkn Munky wrote:Your bike will run like crap with that system, its no good for you. Nice thread Kieran! Did you end up re-using those heads and skimming them? I'd whip the valves out first and take a look at the seats if you haven't already. If they are damaged you might as well just buy a second hand head. I bought some off here for 29 quid for a set! :)

Thanks mate, I havent done anything with the RVF motor yet its all wrapped up in the corner of the garage

Im dropping the 30 motor out of the frame soon to inspect everything and clean all of the carbon up, replacing the stem seals, lapping the valves in and any other bits that may need doing. Im unsure what the mileage is on this as it came with no history so its just for peace of mind really, when i finally get round to buying the tools to do it i will have a look at the 35 aswell.

Re: Kierans type one resto with a few fancy bits.
Finally bought an engine/swingarm socket so i decided to remove the engine this afternoon:

Making up the little stand in the picture made it alot easier to remove the engine, just raised the flat bit of mdf a couple of inches up to the sump with a jack, unbolted the engine and lowered it back down onto the blocks.

Next plan is to get the heads off, replace the valve stem seals regrind the seats, fit the RVF cams and check the valve clearances. Im also hoping to get the heads, rocker covers and side cases painted in the orignal engine colour, but i may just paint them black and see how it looks.
