Re: SELEXON'S NC29 Pre Modern Racer
Some new goodies for the bike turned up today from Brembo.
I got a 32mm caliper that is lighter then the oem unit and looks better, plus a 11mm m/c to match up to it. So now I have to make up a new caliper mount bracket. Lucky its our winter break here so gives me some time to fiddle around with it. Not to sure if to have it under slung or keep it std mount.
One of the local accessory importers has shouted me with a set of venhill braided lines and a set of NG Brake Disc plus a set of the Bendix MCR C-Matrix Pads to go with the 15mm 996R m/c that I fitted to the front a few weeks back.

@ valves. The use of the 2nd gasket was to take up the thickness that was machined from the head, If I didn't use the 2nd gasket the cam gears would loose the clearance.
@ yak. I'm looking at keeping std piston size for the time been, as it gives more ppl the chance to use them in std roadies with out honing bores. And also lets us use std rings. As the company that I use only makes the pistons.[/quote]
You can count me in on a set of pistons if they are reasonable.

Re: SELEXON'S NC29 Pre Modern Racer
Was suppose to be racing this weekend but #2 conrod decided to do this yesterday afternoon before I started to pack up.

Found that a choke plunger was leaking so its filled the cylinder with fuel. Then when I have dropped the clutch to start it, its gone crack...
I will pull it apart over the next few days and see how much damage its done inside. Hoping that its just the conrod and the holes in the case.

Yeah Mate, The case will be the easiest part to fix. I can weld it back up, I'm just lucky its the top section of the gearbox housing and not the floor or the walls of the case.

I pulled the cases apart last night in readiness to weld the holes up.
A shot of the damage from the inside.

And the culprit

There are two marks on the lower part of the bore. Lucky they are below the stroke of the piston.cajun wrote:![]()
No good! How are the cyl walls upon further review?
I got word back from Carrillo about the con rods, They are going to make some in there 'A Beam' design, which should be pretty cool, hopfuly they are lighter then the std rods. Now just have to sit about for the 5-6 week manufacturing time.
Total cost is going to be about $1700.00 - just a bit more then I was expecting.

One not to sit idle knowing there is still a few $$ in the race kitty, I sent the gearbox off to get the all talked about REM cryogenic superfinish process done.
All I can say is wow, this shit is good, all the teeth on the gears are silky smooth and shift drum and fork feel like they will work a treat. Can't wait to get it back together to feel the difference.
