Now we're getting somewhere. I think it's pretty safe to cross your generator off the list of culprits. Change the battery when your new one turns up, and look at replacing the reg/rec. You could go for a heavy duty Honda one, or consider replacing it with a Yamaha one from an early R6 (make sure it's a 5-pin model).

Surely you've learnt by now what happens when you skimp and don't do things properly?

No one does. If you have to wait a month to afford it then do so.xivlia wrote:i really dot wanna spend 85 quid on a heavy duty regulator... ive not got much money left...
£85 on a reg/rec is miles better than forking out hundreds of pounds on replacing an entire electrical system that's knackered because of one crappy component.
It's understandable that you want to ride now, but let's face it, it could be snowing here in 2 weeks and no riding weather until March. Take the time to fix things properly.

that loooks heavy duty..but i am just not too keen on spending 60 quid on it...im gonna chance it and buy a cheap one for the time being, to make things better i will use thermal compound between the frame and the regulator to keep it cooler and longer lasting...i really need to ride this bike as soon as possible for my job...

That won't necessarily make it last longer. While you keep using the dud regulator you risk burning out your alternator and battery also. It starts getting pricey when this keeps happening...xivlia wrote:to make things better i will use thermal compound between the frame and the regulator to keep it cooler and longer lasting...
Spend on a good used R6 reg, you can probably pick one up for 20 quid. It takes a minor bit of work to fit.
Skimping on the electrical system will come back to bite you on the ar$e.
The upside of persisting with your dud regulator will be that your thread will probably become the longest on the whole forum!!
