im not selling my project :D..as its no longer a project.. its complete, all i have to do is fix the charging issue...its either battery or reg/rec + stator....and lets not turn my huge Topic into a bidding war ;).

Your readings, if accurate, are certainly odd but a dud battery can give wacko readings from the charging system. Do as other have suggested, get a known good battery and start testing the charging system.

ive tested my alternator by testing its resistance on the three elow wires.. i am getting 0.7ohm on all three wires..so its within spec. i try to test my regulator...i connected the +ve probe to the red/white terminal and the -ve to the green...and when i connect the -ve to the green. all it does it just sparks....so its not a good sign.. do you know why its sparking? in haynes its telling me to do that... but it sparks.

you test your reg rec by running the bike and measuring DC Volts across the battery

You also need to test alternator output using AC volts and into the 3 yellow wires, same as bvefore - but with it unplugged from reg rec

hmm could you be more detailed on how to test reg rec? i still dont get it...i run the bike... and measure the battery voltage? isnt that only testing battery not the reg?... and yeah im gonna test the ac volts on the alternator.

You measure the voltage at 5000 revs. The alternator produces a higher voltage than the battery requires and so the reg/rec, if working properly, regulates the voltage to 14-15 volts. Hence the reg/rec getting very hot because it dissipates energy as heat.

well the battery isnt getting any higher than 11.40..and it drops.. when i have the lights on its like 7 volts or so. and then cuts off...i measured the alternators AC volts when running and its giving me 0v on all 3 terminals....is that even possible? this is soo pising me off now. its unreal :D....

Have you made sure you've set your multimeter to measure AC current when testing the alternator?

Just to check, imagine the three wires are labelled A, B and C; are you measuring the voltage across A+B, B+C and A+C?

:D woooops it was actually set to dc....LOL my bad. i tried again set to AC and im getting welll over 50v if i give throttle....at 5k rpm im getting 45v.... any more than 5k rpm im getting like 50+ and thats on all 3 terminals...so im guessing my alternator and stator are working?...one thing ive noticed is that my regulator isnt even getting hot when the bike is running...left it running for about 5mins or so. and its cold to the touch....i think my regulator is fucked along with my battery... what do you guys think?
